very good but don't open very far...by design. Probably perfect for a narrow use of snipping through-hole component leads, but I'd prefer wider opening for more usefulness

All tool-users around the globe recognize Knipex as being the best in all things plier-ish, with these little nippers being no exception. The jaws give a flush cut, so these are good for removing small parts from a sprue when modelling, cutting cable-tie tails off flush, or cutting (soft), wiring & component tails when one's endeavours are in the electrical or electronic arena. These are nicely spring-loaded "Open" and the grips are comfortable for even large paws like mine. Probably a tad delicate for heavy/hard wire tasks, but you'll have heavier-duty Knipexes for that.

The KNIPEX 78 03 125 ESD cutters are very good.I also have the KNIPEX 78 03 125 SB Electronic Super Knips.Both of these cutters Handle component wires with ease, with nice clean cut.Got this one for those jobs where Electro Static Discharge is a damage risk to the component or board.Highly recommended.

Buy these. Forget all others. These are the ones you want.

I have been using these for a while (I am an electrician - often doing panel builds) - and these function very well, having only required a quick spray with WD40 on the hinge/spring mechanism.
