Bosch 2610906284 1/2 in Collet Chuck for Series Routers 1613, 1617, 1618

this fit my Craftsman router with no problem.

My Craftsman 37595 (Purchased about 2 years ago) only came with a 1/4" chuck, and I thought I could add a 1/2" collet chuck (for larger, heavier duty router bits) later. Unfortunately I found that Sears Parts Direct and other vendors no longer carried them, and some chucks claiming to be OEM parts for Craftsman either didn't fit or didn't hold the bits securely. A British web site claimed that the Big Horn 19693 (Replacement for Bosch 2610906284 and several others) would also work on some Craftsman routers, but it didn't work with mine. I tried this Bosch next and I'm very happy with the results. It mates to the router perfectly and applies strong, even pressure to 1/2" shanks. Even the self-extraction feature works as it should. I can't speak for other recent Craftsman routers, but this Bosch works on the model listed above. If you undertake a similar search for your router, you should definitely test the functionality of the collet using a well-balanced 1/2" shank bit. A few short bursts of power should be tried first to make sure there are no fit issues between the router and the collet, and between the collet and the bit. Any vibration or loosening of the bit means you don't have a combination that should be allowed to run at full speed. Good luck finding the parts you need in order to get your project (or job) done.

I was having some issues with the original collet on the 1617 getting stuck, and decided to grab a new one. It was instantly noticeable, and I laughed at how long I had waited. I'd used the original one for years, so it lasted a while, but after a thousand or more times swapping bits it simply wore down. If you are on this page, you have probably had issues with your existing one, so I highly advise just replacing it with a new one.

I have a Ryobi plunge router model RE 601..the collet broke. The nut part was fine. I looked for a replacement part and found them to be about $40.00! ...if you could find one, as they listed this part as obsolete. ( a great marketing idea). What I did then was to put the nut in my pocket..go to Home Depot and test the nut on every router they had. Lo and behold Ryobi had changed their thread pattern,but it fit Bosch just fine! Well it didn't take a brain surgeon to figure this one out.I found the part number for the Bosch router collet and ordered that one. Now I have a "Ryoboschbi" hybrid router which works absolutely fine. Kinda make you wonder... I should have gotten a Bosch router to start off!

Purchased for my Craftsman router based on another review - it is thread compatible however the bottom of the nut is slightly longer and rubs against the pin housing. Easy fix on the lathe and it works great! Highly recommend this for Craftsman routers.... Was not able to track down the manufacturer version anywhere.

When I bought this I wondered how you get the old collet off and install this one. Could hardly be easier. Just turn the old collet counter-clockwise until it comes off. Then reverse operations and out the new one on.

If the product in question is made by Bosch and not a refurbished item from "CPO Bosch", I would not hesitate to plunk my money down! I operate a modest woodworking shop, combination of paying and hobby. My inventory of Bosch products among others consist of 4 different routers,(one heavy duty plunge, one stationary table mounted, one combination plunge/free hand and one small trim router), a portable vacuum system capable of activating when a connected tool is powered up. I also rely heavily on my Bosch belt sander, and was so impressed with the finishing sanders that I use 2, one for medium and one for fine finishing. Oh, by the way, in May of this year I installed a Bosch tankless water heater in my 2 1/2 bathroom house. Best move I ever made toward saving energy as well as never having to worry about running out of hot water. Best of all, because the unit leaves no floor footprint, I gained additional square footage in my shop!

I've tried the dewalt brand and big horn router collects in an attempt to replace my mastercraft collet. This bosch router vollet has been the only collet that works with my mastercraft router.
