I bought this 100-pack of GUSTO 10-inch bamboo skewers strictly to check the soil moisture of my houseplants, and they are an absolute game-changer. If you struggle with overwatering or want to stop guessing when to water, you need these. Why this brand and size work so well: Perfect 10-inch length: The 10" size is the sweet spot. It is long enough to plunge all the way to the bottom of my medium and large pots, but not so awkwardly long that they are hard to store. Sturdy GUSTO quality: These are surprisingly strong and made of raw, natural bamboo. They don't bend or snap easily when pushed down into dense potting soil.100% safe for plants: They are completely raw, un-waxed wood, which is necessary so the soil moisture actually clings to them. Guards the roots: The tips are tapered cleanly. They glide right past delicate roots instead of breaking them like thick plastic moisture meters do. How I use them:I push a stick down into the pot, leave it for 10 seconds, and pull it out. If the wood turns a dark shade or has wet soil sticking to it, I don't water. If it comes out clean and light-coloured, it’s watering time. You can even leave them in the pot. For a few pounds, this 100-pack will keep my indoor jungle alive for years. Highly recommended!
