As advertised, this switch does not need a ground. I just installed the switch an hour ago, so far the the 10 min timer I set is working as it should. The only warning I have for others is the size of the device itself. Our house was built in 1939, the steel boxes that are original to the house are bit smaller, I wrapped the entire edge of the switch with electrical tape so a connection was not made with the box, it barely fit.

This is a comprehensive review of the product. I purchased a 2 pack, one for the laundry room, and one for the pantry. Just for your information, this is not a smart switch.Packaging: Box is well packaged. Comes with all required items. Manual is also included with explanation on install steps as well as features and adjustments.Install: You will need a flat screw driver, and depending on your old switch, you will likely need a phillips screw driver as well, and a set of plyers will make your job easier.1. Find your breaker box in your home, and cut the power to the current switch. (ie, Move the breaker switch away from the center) (VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THIS FOR YOUR SAFETY)2. Unscrew and remove your old switch cover plate (usually flat screw driver). This will uncover the barebones of your old switch.3. Unscrew the old switch (usually 2 phillips head screws)4. Detach the 3 wires from your old switch (usually 2 black hot wires, and 1 green ground wire). This new switch does not require a WHITE common wire, thus this can be installed in probably any home.5. Straighten your wire heads6. Use the supplied marets (brown color) to screw together your ground to ground (green to green), and then hot to hot (black to black) x 27. Push all the wires back in and use the philips screw driver to mount your new switch8. Apply the supplied cover wall plate using a flat screw driver9. Go back to your breaker box and turn the power back on to the correct breaker for your switch (ie, move it back to the center)10. DONE!!!!Features: The manual says to give the switch a few minutes to set itself after turning on the power. Once that is done, there are a few things you can adjust.Lighting Modes: You can adjust the settings to manual, occupancy mode, and vacancy mode so that gives you options to set the motion settings.Timer: This is where you can set the amount of time after no motion is detected that the light will stay on. The range is from 15 seconds to 30 minutes.Range: This is where you can adjust the range (in degrees) of how wide the detection range of the motion sensor is.This is an immediate review, and if I have any issues with this, I will come back to update the review. IF there are no changes to this, assume that it is working well.

I love this product. Works great and does the job well. I put it in a closet so I have my hands free going in and out. Senses well, has mechanical switch because I can hear it click on and off. No issues with its overall function.But calibrating it to a desired length of time is extremely difficult and time consuming.For example: I want it coming on when I enter and then turning off 2.5 to 3 minutes after I leave the room. That goal is near impossible with this unit.1st attempt it stayed in for 15 seconds.Adjusted it and it stayed in for 12 minutes.Adjusted it and got 5 minutes.Adjusted it and got 15 seconds.Adjusted it and got 14 minutes.Adjusted it and got 1 minute.Adjusted it and got 4 minutes.I gave up.4 minutes will have to do.But other than this, it’s great.

Bought 42 of these and several of the three way versions for two home remodels. Had them installed by an electrician. Several of them flickered. Ended up having to replace them with another brand. Unfortunately since they were installed, and packaging thrown away no return possible. Price was great but only if they work.

Having one or more of these in a garage or pantry is extremely useful. Every time you pull in your car or want to leave and if you have dogs you know the first thing is close the garage door. Well if you load up the dogs and then have to go out to turn off the lights thats a bit of a pain. This solves all those issues and by adjusting the timer you can customize the tradeoff between quickly shutting itself off (maybe useful for pantry) and larger time (working in the garage).

Please make sure you are not using a bulb that draws less than 15W. It might not work. Since I use a 60W LED bulb that draws only 9W, quite a few of my installations did not work. Very frustrating. They are good products, but just missing some accurate info. I ended up ordering another type of switch from the same seller.

Ordered these motion switches thinking they were the correct type. After installation the lights flashed off and on repeatedly. Tried every trick I could think of. In desperation I gave up and called the Top Greener customer support number listed on Amazon. To my surprise I got a LIVE person that spoke English. She said someone would call me within the hour. Yea right! Well within 10 minutes I got a call back and he understood my problem, recommended another product and told me to return this item. The other product worked like a champ. Auto on, auto off. They were very helpful.

I was hoping this would help keep the lights off, but even after adjusting it, it is too sensitive so the cat keeps the light turn on all the time, if you have issues with lights not turning on then this is your switch, but for me who wants to automate the turning off of a hallway switch it didn't work good since it is always on, specially with pets that trigger it.

I have moved a lot. Put this type of sensor in two to three places every time. This is one of the better ones as its very simple to use and install. If you can't figure this one out don't buy the cheaper ones!

Good product, easy to connect but if you have other electrical wires inside the junction box, you may have a challenge.

Purchased these to be placed in our laundry room and walk-in closet.I love that the light automatically turns on and off for you, love the way that these look, but am giving 4 stars because the one in our laundry room seems to be a little too sensitive, even after changing the settings. We have to close the door completely or the light will switch on as we pass the door.

Very sensitive but installation needs electrician.

Works with LED lighting and is easy to install and set up.
