A rip off
The blurb advertising the book deceptively implies that you will be getting the complete system of 124 techniques. However, for 28 dollars (ouch) you get a meager 26 techniques. There are many other books, including reprints of older manuals from the early 1900's that are a much better value. The majority of this book is fluff. Dubious history, myths, and ego stroking. This book is severely overpriced. I am not impressed. I feel like I was conned. That being said, if you have money to burn... and you are a jujutsu addict... it may be worth it for you to pay 28 dollars to find one or two new techniques. But most, if not all, of these techniques are pretty commonly known and are available in much cheaper books. The things we sacrifice for our art...P.S. (edited) I am a verified purchase. I noticed a puff piece review popping up immediately after my review was posted, written by someone who has not spent their hard earned money to purchase the book.(Not a verified purchase) This book may have been worth it for a third of the price, but not for 28 dollars.

Just a faded shadow of Tenjin Shinyo Ryu
If you want to learn something about Tenjin Shinyo Ryu there are very few things available. The book contains some things, however there are basic problems: The first problem is that someone, for that money, expects more material. The greatest problem however concerns the techiniques presented. There are a lot of details missing while some of them are complitely inacurate. You cannot learn Tenjin Shinyo Ryu through a book or even by video. This book gives just a faded shadow of the TSR.

A book of great historical significance
Caracena Sensei did a fine job researching and presenting a part of the system of Tenjin ShinYo Ryu Jujutsu. I understand there is more to come. I found this book extremely interesting from a historical perspective. It fills a void and anyone interested in traditional jujutsu should find this book of great value. Mr. Caracena, who is obviously not a native English speaker, could enhance the value of the book by having a native English speaker edit it for him. I say this with the greatest respect because Caracena Sensei is a fine jujutsuka and a serious scholar of jujutsu.

Excellent Publication & Entriguing Read..!!
This Book is a very entriguing read for serious minded Jujutsuka wanting to learn more about this ancient JJ Art.. I found this Book to be most interesting in explaining the documented history and development of Tenjin Shinyo Ryu Jujutsu. As a student of this system and other martial arts, I am very grateful to Sensei Jose Caracena for his dedicated work to research, translate and produce this New Book. This Book has been Endorsed by the Traditional Jujutsu Committee of the USJJF. Well worth the purchase price..!!

Excellent volume on a fascinating art!
This is an excellent volume setting forth the techniques of the shodan level of this fascinating traditional Japanese martial art! A tremendous amount of information is packed into a small number of pages. The techniques are well represented in clear photographs and descriptions. An excellent resource for anyone with an interest in traditional jujutsu. I'm looking forward to the next volume, containing the techniques of the chudan level!
