Toolbox Lock Tubular Cam Replacement Lock Hook Cam Keyed Alike (5/8 Inch, Chrome Finish, 2 Pack)

This Tube Lock worked great. I installed a metal electrical box in one of the rear cargo doors of my van for security reasons. The electrical panel box I used is a thicker gauge than other security lock boxes i have seen online. This lock fit perfect and is strong/secure enough for my needs. I recommend it. I wish they included more lock latches (different sizes) as I made one from scratch to fit. Be sure you measure correctly to get the right depth fit. I can't reduce the star rating due to the latch size as I used this for an untypical installation and made it work great.

With any universal lock set like this, you'll need to make modifications. Definitely fit the lock hole as it should. I do like the unique key set. The hook supplied could very well been modified to fit the application but had original components that made the install a little easier. I bought this lock to fit into a Blue Point roll around box. Definitely filled the need and the pricing was spot on..

Since no one really gave any clear info I documented my installation. See attached pictures and I'll explain. The flats of the new lock appear to be about the same diameter but the top and bottom threaded portions are about .050 to .060" larger in diameter. This necessitates removal of material in the installation hole in the toolbox. A file could work but it would be slow, but a rotary file or grinding bit would faster but I'd advise caution as you can't put material back if you over grind. Remove equal amounts top and bottom of the curved portion of the hole and only remove material from the flat sides, left and right if it still will not fit. The center stud of the new lock is larger as well so the old latch won't fit without modification. The new latch worked but it was a tad tight when locking but works okay. I have no idea on the longevity of this lock. It appears of good construction so hopefully it will work for years unlike the stock US General locks which are complete 💩. I hope this helps. I was able to make this work for replacing a light Duty Lock in a Wall Safe, but it is not very high quality. Does the Job but feels like it could break easily.
