End tines sound
If you’re a beginner and not sure what style of kalimba to start with, here’s a tip: hollow ones (with holes) will be louder and feel more acoustic-y, however, the tines on the end tend to not resound like the middle ones do. They produce a very short, pluck sound, not a vibration, and are hard to press due to the shorter length. Flat, solid bodies like this one, are quieter because the solid wood mutes it slightly, but the end tines do vibrate and produce a more consistent, lovely sound to the rest of the tines. I bought a hollow body kalimba as my first kalimba and wish I had known this first. It’s all about preference though and how much you use those end tines. I bought this particular flat body Treelf kalimba as a gift for someone else and tested it briefly - the end tines sound just as great as the rest of them even with very gentle pressure. Keep in mind that kalimbas needs upkeep to sound good regardless of how good they sound out of the box. I recommend this for beginners as the tines are easier to press and produce a nice sound, although quieter. Everything came intact and I’m excited to pass it on to the gift recipient.

Very High Quality Kalima
This Treelf kalimba is much more than I expected. It's very high quality, and the workmanship is outstanding. The blue color has such a beautiful sheen to it. The tines are very smooth, soft, and curved. Very easy on the thumbs. They are well polished. They are also engraved. No need for the stickers. The sound, tone, and resonance are fantastic! There are NO dead tines. Even the highest is clean, clear, and resonant. I'm extremely impressed with this kalimba.

Worth it
I purchased 4 of these kalimbas, gifts for my sisters. They have a nice sound and the high keys aren't dead. They are small and easy to hold. I am Pleased with them.

Great budget kalimba with pickup
This kalimba has a pretty good tone, looks great and comes with a pickup installed. It is not quite as resonant or deep as the kalimba with a stag cutout due to the wood being a bit thinner, but the higher pitch tines are also a bit clearer than that model. The pickup is very sensitive. Hooking this up to a guitar rig, even just brushing the surface of the wood can be heard and amplified. With an amp, it is very easy to get feedback. Unfortunately, the kalimba as delivered had a lot of buzzing (physical not electrical) caused by the input jack. Taking the decorative end piece off the jack and retightening fixed the buzz but it isn't ideal. The turquoise color of the wood is quite pretty and makes the instrument stand out. Unlike the stag cutout model, the tines are unlabeled so the included stickers may be of use. On the plus side, the kalimba includes a tuning hammer (not found with the stag model).

Not all the keys sound great.
First the negative. The tines on both ends are muted. They do not ring out very well. It took a lot of work to get the tines from rattling and even now they still rattle a bit. This one thing brings it down from a five to a three star since that is the whole point of the Kalimba and it doesn't sound good. One of the positives is it is an electric kalimba. The electronics work well. Even without it being electric the middle keys have a nice ring to them. The instruction book is obviously translated from one language to English. However the directions are clear. There are some directions for tuning it. I liked that the tablature was included.

Relaxing
What a joy to play with this, especially during these stressful times. The first song I learn was the theme song of Game of Thrones (How to video on Youtube). Supremely easy to learn. Only issue is that my nails are rather short so I have to use the provided thumb plastic

Mic hardly works, might as well not be there
I paid the increase in price and reduction in quality because I thought the mic and jack would be worth it. Nah, it's not worth it.It's a nice kalimba but there are better ones for cheaper and that resonate better on the low and high notes, this one really only sounds its best in the mid-tones.I tried the mic and originally thought it was defective but in cracking up my stereo to the max I could hear it just a little bit.I like the extras that come with it, theres a tune kit, thumb protectors and stickers if you cant remember the keys. The bag is nice and I'm glad this one came with it

Kalimba unplugged is nice.
Disappointed with this. As soon as you plug it on an amp and manipulate the kalimba you can hear the hands moving on or under it and whatnots. My son who is the musician in the house was bummed about this. Not very useful if plugged in the amp. Great if not plugged...
