How do I get my rug edges to lie flat?

Rugs are rolled or folded for safe transit, so creases and curled edges are to be expected. Lay the rug flat, or reverse-roll and the marks will release within a few days.

Why does my rug look different than the photo?

Because the fibers lie in one direction, the rug appears lighter from one end and darker from the other, with the tone shifting as you move around it. Room lighting and screen settings can also affect how the color reads.

Why does my rug shed?

A little shedding is normal on a new rug, and it subsides within a few days as the loose fibers work their way out.We suggest vacuuming regularly without a beater bar to help it along.

Why does my rug smell?

A light scent is normal after a rug has been rolled and wrapped for shipping. Let air circulate through the room and it will fade within a few days.

How do I clean my rug?

Vacuum regularly in the direction of the pile, not against it, and skip the beater bar. Blot spills rather than rubbing them. Natural fiber rugs should be shaken out to release dirt and debris, avoid wet cleaning.

Description

[COLOR & PATTERN]: SAFAVIEH's Natural Fiber rug features marble grey sisal fibers with a beige cotton border; as an authentic plant fiber, color and tone variations are expected and may vary with lighting.
[TEXTURE & PILE]: Woven marble grey sisal creates a highly textured surface with a naturally firm, structured feel and an approximately 1/2" pile; power-loomed with a cotton border for a clean, finished look.
[VERSATILE STYLE]: The Natural Fiber design makes a versatile fit for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, and home offices, complementing coastal, farmhouse, Scandinavian, transitional, cottage, bohemian, and contemporary interiors alike.
[EASY CARE]: Vacuum with suction only or no beater bar, or gently shake out debris; trim natural sprouting with scissors rather than pulling, and air out any temporary natural scent.
[ARRIVAL & RUG PAD]: This rug may show temporary creases from packaging; lay flat for a few days or reverse-roll briefly to help them relax. A SAFAVIEH rug pad is recommended for comfort, stability, and floor protection.
[TRUSTED BRAND]: For over 100 years, SAFAVIEH has combined quality craftsmanship with timeless design, offering rugs and home furnishings for every style, space, and lifestyle.
[BASED IN NEW YORK]: Based in New York, SAFAVIEH operates 13 retail locations across NYC, Long Island, Westchester, Stamford, and New Jersey, while bringing over a century of design and rug expertise to homes around the world.

The SAFAVIEH Natural Fiber collection blends a coastal and cottage area rug designed to complement the living room and bedroom. Woven from natural sisal fibers at a 1/2" pile, it offers a durable, texture-rich foundation for layered interiors. Its natural texture adds understated warmth and visual interest while holding up to daily foot traffic, making it a grounding layer for the room. The SAFAVIEH Natural Fiber collection rounds out any room; subtle color variations are to be expected and reflect the natural character of plant fibers.
