Excellent Mattress and some shopping advice
Summary:Very happy with the purchase. Mattress arrived on time and well packaged (rolled up). I have added some photos of how it arrived and what it looks like. There was no smell at all when unpacking. It feels very soft when you sit down on it, but it is actually quite firm when you lay down. It feels very supportive in the right places and I have not gotten any more backaches (which I got from my old mattress). It has a zip going all along three side, so it is very easy to take the cover off which is machine washable. Much easier than with my old one. Does not have handles on the side to lift, since you need to turn it regularly the first month as stated in the Italian manual, that would be handy. The long story:Since I moved to the UK it is very difficult to find a 80x200 mattrass (continental size) and thus had to order something online. Ikea does foam mattresses, we went there because our old mattress came from there (Sultan Forsbacka -It is very hard to find any information on the Sultan Forsbacka but I think it also had a latex core). Just wanted the same one again; they don't make it anymore and the two they had in store were absolutely terrible. Do not buy those. However, the Sultan Forsbacka was awarded best buy mattress and has been brilliant for 9 years - last year the dip in the middle developed and it started to hurt my back. So I needed a new - non Ikea mattress and looked online.Since you are reading this, it is very difficult to figure out what is a good mattress to buy with the amazon shops. Only very basic information is often provided. So it took me a long time to find out what shops were decent and what mattresses were of good quality.- For a latex mattress you'd want a density of 65 kg/m3 or higher (look on the website of european bedding for a thorough explanation), which this one has (although it is not quite written down in that way).- You also want to know what it is made off: synthetic - natural latex. If it is natural latex, it is often a mix with synthethic, but is regarded as the better option. This mattress, when you go to the actual website of the company, seems to suggest it is natural latex '100% Lattice bialveolato' and is supported by the EuroLatex certification. Although they do not detail what percentage is natural/synthetic. Sometimes you see water latex or similar listed, I think this is fully synthetic and is much like polyurethane foam.- You also want to know if it fits certifications: i.e. the chemicals used/released are not harmful. Look for the Oekotex certification and the EuroLATEX one.The shop provided me with cheerful messages on delivery times, how to open the rolled-up mattress and such. Very happy with that, for it is a big purchase and the friendly customer service means a lot. It arrived in good time (with an track&trace) and was well packaged as you can see on the photo's. The outer bag is sturdy to protect the item during shipping, the inner bag keeps it rolled up. There is a lot of pressure on there and it easily tears at the base to open (as described in their email). When unpacking it slowly soaks up air and expands. All labels are there and you can see the different zones in the photo where I have zipped the cover back. There was no smell when unpacking, unlike you can get with memory foam.Comfortable mattress to sleep on. Medium firm I would say and it is quite heavy, which I consider a good sign (the Forsbacka was as heavy as this one).So overall, this seems to be a very decent mattress to buy. And the first week on it has been good.

A great mattress with good customer service
I messaged the staff at Marcapiuma with a couple of questions before purchasing and their repose was prompt and helpful. We decided on their latex model because of the durability and hypo-allergenic properties as well as apparently being better during the warmer months at keeping us cool when compared to a mattress made from memory foam. As other reviewers have already mentioned, it's difficult to purchase something such as a mattress online without having the chance of trying it out first, however we thought we should just go for it due to the previous great reviews that this mattress had received. The first got as far as our local delivery depot but then got automatically returned due to it being damaged in transit. We were not too bothered by this and actually pleased that the courier had noticed the damage beforehand rather than just try and deliver it to us anyway. A second was promptly sent out and we received it about a week and a half later (coming directly from Italy to UK). The rolled-up mattress was heavy to lift but we placed it directly onto the bed frame, opened-up the thick plastic packaging and watched the mattress expand out to its original shape and size. Verdict? My wife and me love it - it's firm enough to support you (even on the very edge if your children happen to climb in the middle and force you to sleep on the furthest extremities!) And yet soft enough that you don't actually want to get up in the morning because it is so comfy. I have had 0 back aches since using the mattress and we have had it for about 4 months now. Very pleased!

If you want to return it-it will cost you bigtime!
I ordered this product under the assumption that amazon returns were doable and easy enough-I had returned things before. I felt they had my back. I was mistaken. When I wanted to return my double mattress and neither this company nor Amazon were willing to help with the massive cost of shipping it back from Ireland. There is no mention of this type of cost on the sellers profile or website, or when you are ordering from Amazon. The company were indifferent to the issue even though I did not like their product. The mattress smelled terribly of chemicals for at least 4 months which were so toxic to sleep on and breathe and I thought it was far softer to sleep on than the rating that they gave. It gave me back and neck aches. I was disappointed with Amazon...I made a claim to get a refund since the cost was so high to return the mattress...(the final quote the company got for me after much back and forth was 80+ Euro). I felt the company let me down and it was now Amazon’s problem since they allow this to go on without any mention in the return policy. It took weeks just to get a response, always being promised it would be dealt with hastily. When I would check up on the claim over many months the customer service agent would assure me that my claim was justified and that it would be sorted out and I would get a refund, but my claim was denied with no explanation. It is difficult to feel like you are talking to someone that knows what is really happening in this far away "claims department". Each time I got a different agent to speak to (they were very sweet) and it just seemed like a vast land where I would get nowhere with no-one to really, truly take responsibility for the problem.I do not advise buying big or expensive items from this seller and perhaps not Amazon either. Perhaps Just think twice! As a long time and loyal customer I have definitely had a change of feeling about buying things on Amazon since this happened.
