Jack Black Leave It In Hair & Beard Balm, 5 Fl Oz

I’ve used quite a few beard products over the years, but this Leave It In Balm from Jack Black has quickly become one of my absolute favorites. I originally picked it up looking for a solid daily leave-in for my beard and mustache, but it performed so well that I started using it in my scalp hair too. It’s easily become a staple in my morning routine, and I’ll definitely be repurchasing it down the line. Real-World Details & Performance The texture is what really sets this balm apart—it’s extremely clean, goes in smooth, and leaves both my beard and hair feeling fantastic without any heavy or greasy residue. The scent profile is amazing and fresh, which is honestly half the reason I started working it into my head hair as well. In terms of styling, it provides a very subtle, light hold. That turned out to be ideal for me because my hair tends to get a bit unruly and "squirrely" throughout the day. It tames those stray flyaways without making your hair stiff or crunchy. Pros & Cons Pros: Versatile Dual-Use: Works equally well as a beard conditioner and a lightweight leave-in for scalp hair. Great Scent & Feel: Leaves hair soft, clean, and smelling great with zero greasy buildup. Tames Flyaways: Adds just enough light hold to keep unruly hair under control without stiffening up. Cons: Premium Price Point: It is on the pricier side, though the quality matches the tag. Not for Heavy Styling: Provides only a light hold, so look elsewhere if you need firm shaper/wax control. Final Verdict You definitely get what you pay for here—the quality of the formula and the results make it worth the investment. If you're looking for a clean, great-smelling daily conditioner that softens coarse facial hair while keeping light flyaways in check, I couldn't recommend this enough.

Bought for my husband and can definitely tell a difference! Very moisturizing, does not irritate his sensitive skin and does not have an overpowering smell. Will buy again!

Not sure what kind of magic they are using to make this stuff, but it's working. I have tried other products with similar ingredients, albeit cheaper, and was never really excited about the results. I hesitated on the Jack Black Leave It In for a while because of the price, but after just a few days of use I am convinced it is worth it. My beard has always had a lot of flyaways and wiry hairs. This product tames and softens like nothing else I have used before, and it doesn't leave any oily/sticky/noticeable residue. My beard looks and feels better than it ever has. The scent is a bit perfume-y and strong when you first apply it, but it fades after a few minutes. I definitely recommend this stuff. My other tubes are all going in the trash.

I get a taper fade with a #3 hair length on top. My hair is thick and wavy/curly. I tried Kiehl’s silk groom, Giovanni avocado serum and various other balms, gels and moisturizers. I received a sample of this, and was pleasantly surprised. I couldn’t believe it! My hair is not only moisturized, but not greasy. It’s not oily and it does provide some shine and protection from heat and humidity. Don’t expect a firm hold, it’s sort of a soft to medium hold. And you only need a little as it seems concentrated. I will definitely be buying this from now on. Jack Black products are the best, and I’ve tried MANY premium/luxury men’s grooming products over the years, such as Truefitt and Hill hair dressings. I would say my hair is 4a but may be 3c on the scale. The smell is ok, kind of herbal, not offensive.

For reference: male, medium to thick wavy hair, 6” long. Scent: good, smells natural and leans towards a light rosemary scent. Texture: good, but you may need to use more product than you’d think, which can weigh your hair down a bit. Once you find the optimal amount, it controls frizz, adds a bit texture by better defining your ends, and won’t weigh things down too much. Hold: pretty much none. Again, if you use more product you’ll get a bit of performance in terms of hold, but if you’re looking for a legit light hold you should try a different product. Application is very easy. It even applies to dry hair easily, though the directions say to apply to damp hair. Value: pretty solid in this department. Even using more if you have long hair, you should be able to get a couple months out of a tube. Not amazing, but not bad either. Would I buy it again? I’m on my second bottle and I’m not experimenting with other products like Glacial’s chair cream. While I really like this JB product, it’s tough to get the control I want over my wavy hair which wants to have bits and pieces sticking out every which way in less than flattering shapes sometimes. If I had shorter hair that I really just wanted to boost hydration and add a bit texture to, this product would be great. Same goes for long hair. For medium length hair, hair you’re growing out that isn’t truly long yet, it’s going to depend on your hair type. Again, not bad at all! Just a bit of a chore to get this product to work the way I want it to at this stage in my hair length. Maybe 2-3” longer than it is now, I’ll revisit this product.

I have a medium length beard. Very coarse. I have oily skin. I have tried so many other balms and oils, all they did was make my beard more wiry. This is the best product. My beard, is very manageable, full, and groomed. Highly recommended.

Not sure if something in the formula has been changed or if it’s a bad batch, but the fragrance seems to be different than before, and not in a good way. I liked the first tube I got of this, it smelled better and wasn’t greasy. I’m not sure if I will purchase again due to the fragrance change.
