Impressive
I love this thing! I am impressed with how well it does finding hot spots on equipment or even your house. I showed everyone i work with and they love it and will probably buy some. The meter works great also and it's heavy built. I haven't had any issue with the battery, they send good ones with it also. This is a must have in the hvac industry as far as I'm concerned.

Excellent feature full product built commercial tough.
Likes: Excellent battery life. I have easily gotten 6+ hours of battery life from 3 AA Sanyo Eneloop NiMh rechargable batteries in the DM285 multimeter. The imager is 160X120 resolution which really gives you the ability to "see" what you are pointing the sensor at. You really don't even need to use the laser pointer. I can see why they omitted the visible camera in this as that video feed is not needed to superimpose/merge the thermal "blob" image to tell what/where the thermal bloom is. You can easily recognize the surroundings and I am able to differentiate even SMT resistors on a circuit card when held up close and a warm jeweler's screwdriver is used as a pointer to identify the tiny parts. I'm impressed! The multimeter is getting much more use than my other fluke meter as it is just more handy to have it all in one piece of equipment. Product is undoubtedly rugged. It has a oversized rubber bumper surrounding/ protecting the test equipment. I feel quite insured that if It were to drop, from the counter or my hand to the floor that the device would survive.Dislikes: Bluetooth. The only option available via bluetooth at the time of my testing is data acquisition only. The Android app only reports data capture / viewing data streams and does not report a digital camera data stream nor does it recognize a digital camera in the DM285. So how do you get the pictures off the device? Well playing around with the device I found a hidden USB port not listed in the very lacking user manual. Open up the battery compartment, remove the AA battery holder and there is a micro USB port. Just plug the appropriate cable into this port and into your PC. It shows up as a USB drive and you can drag/ drop the digital thermal image photos to your PC. You can download FLIR related software for the PC from their website. It facilitates easy editing/ color changing of thermal images. The owner's/instruction manual. I am quite humored how bad this manual is. When I looked up the information on the bluetooth function, the small paragraph summed up the feature by saying, "please refer to the instruction manual". So yes, at least it is in English.Edit: Bluetooth picture push is available now with the latest software.Over a year later, still amazing ad a DMM and FLIR camera! Battery life is nothing short of outstanding!

Nice meter but…
Meter works great. Wish it had Bluetooth like the other FLIR products I have and the resolution on the onboard camera is poor but effective. 10yr “complete warranty” on camera and meter which is stellar if honored.

Works pretty well
I've used this for everything from finding out what the heat distribution is on my electric griddle, to figuring out which windows are costing me the most heat in my house. And you can never have enough multimeters. It's also interesting that you can use this to see which wires in a house's electrical system are drawing power, because the faint heat causes the wires to glow. Now, it's important to note that the maximum heat range is 300 degrees, and a griddle or grill will get hotter than it can read. But while the numbers will not be calibrated at the higher ranges, you will still get a relative idea of how hot one place is versus another.

Could be much better
With the FLIR name I expected much more. Being in the fire service for a number of years I am familiar with the company and what they are capable of. The multimeter seems well constructed and accurate but the thermal camera is that of a toy. Images are just colored blobs. If it were not for the built in laser I would not know what I was looking at. I would look elsewhere for a thermal camera but for a multimeter with extras it is great, just expensive.

Best meter hands down
I recently bought the DM285 and the Ta72 flex probe. This setup replaces and beats to dust all of my other Fluke meters including those with Fluke connect. Features not mentioned in this video that blew me away (other than the obvious). Multiple simultaneous readings on 1 screen! You can take temp while checking volts, amps, hz, farrads, etc... . The bluetooth feature with the flir tools app demolishes fluke connect for the same above reason and ease of use. The flexibility of the meter itself is astounding. Readings changing rapidly? Simply turn on course resolution. Want a complete Amp picture? Turn on Max/Min/avg. The current amp reading displays center screen while the max amp is top left, the min amps are top center and the average amps are top right on 1 screen. Or all show to the left of the screen while viewing the thermal image. The feature and menu option flexibility goes on and on. By far the best meter ive had. It even beats the fluke 279fc in side by side comparison. Flir wins here.

Finally have one
Finally found an IR camera and good multimeter that's not some cheesy camera plugin or cheap. This one doesn't have the memory to store the image but for finding leaks and hot or cold spot this is awesome. It even shows the temperature. I looked at my circuit breakers in my panel and could tell which ones were and weren't active. I could see the poor thermal leaks along the edge of my drywall (tells you where there is missing insulation or an air gap). I ordered the rechargeable batter for it. This FLIR is going to work well for my next major project where I need to electrically wire and insulate a house. And it seems well built!

So much better than the Fluke 279fc
Much cheaper than alternatives out there, higher resolution, and flir has some of the best thermal cameras out there. I really like that it overlays some of the background picture to make everything easy.Solid multi meter that actually includes the ability to use a thermocouple as well. Cough fluke? cough

Uena relación precio calidad
Tengo una camara fluke y considerando que me costó el triple que este equipo, relación la misma función por apenas una tercera parte del valor de aquel, ya he probado un par de instrumentos de esta marca Flir y la verdad no le piden nada a Fluke

Vorsicht!!! eingebaute geplante Obsoleszenz

FLIR-Kundendienst verweist an Amazon. Amazon an FLIR-Kundendienst.Wenn es funktioniert, ist es super und praktisch. Aber das Qualitätsproblem ist offensichtlich und daher rate ich dringend von diesem Gerät ab!
