Does it Suck? Absolutely. You need this Vacuum!
Unfortunately this package was stolen. But I managed to find it locally at a target. Let me tell y’all, This vacuum SUCKS in the best way possible!!!! I just moved into a new house and my allergies were going insane. I mean insane, the landlord told me they had the carpets washed and cleaned. So you know that’s not true. I brought this baby home, put it together and hit the entire house It sucked everything up, years of fine white dust I didn’t know existed. I had to empty the bucket twice per each room. This vacuum absolutely sucked the soul out of that carpets dust. My allergies stopped within the day y’all. I’m not kidding. I was miserable and then BAM, game Over. Then I hit the carpet with the carpet washing one Then it dried Then I Hit it with this vacuum again More fine dust but now, it’s over. This vacuum is the greatest vacuum ever. I’ve always loved Kenmore, I’ve always felt they were the GOAT brand and this is why I went out of my way to find this and buy it after the original Package was stolen by some garbage person. It performs! Its attachments are perfect for the couches and the stairs. It’s not too heavy but it’s study and easy to use It fits anywhere in the corners or closets. And it’s great for the car too. Cannot recommend this enough. Buy this one, if you have pets or kids or both or your place is a hot mess. You’ll thank me later!

For The: Kenmore DU3017. It's A nice Buy.
Amazon buyers might like an actual performance comparison as they consider whether to purchase this unit. So I put the Kenmore DU3017 "brush to brush" against our current Panasonic MC-V5217; a vintage cleaner 25 years old. We've always considered the Panasonic to be a "more than adequate" cleaner, despite the small things we need to do to keep it repaired. It has been a nice machine to use. A week ago, our home air ducts were cleaned; never done since the house was built fifty years ago. (really). Even as the technicians blocked off (special tape) all vents to control debris, a bunch of it escaped anyway. Again and again, we swept floors and vacuumed to control debris from spreading into the house. We vacuumed three times during the service and then twice afterwards. The last time was a week ago. Two people with no pets residing in a clean house. The experiment was designed around a full vacuuming with edging afterward. Repeated the same proceedure with the Kenmore DU3017. After each room I would dump the contents of the canister into a bucket. I was "bigly" surprised. A lot of debris: Some carpet fiber, deteriorated jute backing, considerable dust and dirt and very interestingly some faint traces of sand. The different materials indicate to me how the Kenmore outperformed the Panasonic. Additional carpet fiber indicates more aggressive beater rotation. Dust and dirt .. better suction. The bits of sand indicate to me "superior" suction as it is heavier than routine dust. Overall, very impressive at this price point. During the "project", I noted a very slight performance "drop-off". Others have reported "not working as well as new" in their comments. My response: This unit picked up a lot of dirt and it didn't take long for the dust inside the collection chamber to begin building up. My recommendation: Don't be afraid to routinely disassemble and clean the collection and filtering mechanisms to maintain top performance. The "Primary" HEPA filter will get dirty somewhat quickly. Although it is washable, it should not be allowed to become compacted with debris before washing. A tip: after washing the fine dust out, let it dry in the sun to ensure the cloth portion of the Primary Filter does not start mold. I would make a special note: Do NOT allow the canister to become jam-packed full of debris (failure to dump). The inside of the vacuum will require a full breakdown cleaning to return it to a premium performance level. To repeat an earlier comment: Keep your HEPA filters clean for top performance. As I'm always on the look-out for "single points of failure" I would identify three: 1). The canister (flap) hinge (dumping) is ridiculously fragile. Do not open & let the flap drop or it will eventually break the plastic hinge. That would be a very bad thing. 2). The connection point where the body connects to the rotator brush housing. It reminds me of an automotive "U-joint" on a (rear-wheel) drive shaft. It allows the user to twist and turn while vacuuming. I judge this plastic assembly as somewhat fragile. Over-twisting (too much torque) or jerking when releasing from the upright position will (in time) likely cause micro-fractures in the U-joint assembly. 3). The soft hose at the base between the rotator brush housing and the canister (take-up) aperature is very soft. A lot of twisting over time will rip this hose. Try to keep all cleaning strokes straight without "steering" the unit. This will help prevent the hose from tearing. Likes: 1). Exceptional cleaning at this price point. 2). Slightly better reliability when compared to other brands at the sub $200 level. 3). Pet Cleaning tool cleaned the stairs well. Wife especially liked this. 4). Sound level about 20% lower than the Panasonic. Neutral: 1). At 17 pounds, this cleaner isn't lightweight. But the extra weight is one of the reasons it cleans so well. 2). Cord is 25 feet long. Could have used another 5 feet but not a dealbreaker. 3). Crevasing tool barely sufficient to its intent. Not a dealbreaker. Dislikes: 1). "Single Points of Failure" mentioned above. 2). HEPA filters trap about 95% of all dust from cleaning. Up to 5% still escapes. Not a dealbreaker. 3). HEPA filter replacements a bit expensive at $27 for both, as a kit, from Amazon. The Primary filter will last longer than the 'Exhaust' filter. Last thoughts: I "liken" this vacuum cleaner to a high-performance machine. To get the most out of it, you will need to "baby" it a tad and not treat it roughly or abuse it through neglect. Periodic maintenance and care while using, will ensure you recieve the greatest value and service for your money. Overall, it is a buy. It doesn't hurt it was well-rated by the "Consumer .." guys either.

Exactly what you should buy! Just shut up and take my money! 💲
My wife and I bought this vacuum in July 2023 (it is currently Feb 2025) after giving up on whatever budget brand (probably bissel 🤮) and deciding we needed a REAL vacuum. First off, BEST PURCHASE I have made in a very long time. For a little background, my wife and I take care and adopt sick cats. We currently have TEN CATS in our small three floor typical 1,200 sq ft mostly carpeted city house, so you know pet hair, dander, and litter is a major issue for us. This vacuum is quite small but very powerful. When we first got it, I vacuumed our whole house with the cheap piece of junk we had. I then went over it with the Kenmore, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The bin was full within one room and it just continued throughout the whole house. We vacuum about every 2-3 days and have a vacuum on each floor, and this Kenmore is the one I use once a week to go through the entire house to make sure everything is vacuumed properly. Why I love it: Lightweight - I am able to carry it up and down stairs with ease and can even use the entire unit to vacuum the stairs, though I admit it takes some effort Small - For some people, this may be a con, but for us, it is a pro. I like having a small little lightweight vacuum that is a dust and hair monster. I'm able to fit it into narrow areas and it stores nicely. If you have a room that is 30'x40', sure, it will take a while to do with this vacuum, but it will get it done well. Honestly, the size is perfect for anyone who has a normal sized house Two Motors - Seriously, never buy a vacuum that does not have a motor for the suction and a separate motor for the brush. If it has a single motor, it is worthless. You are missing out on power for both the suction and the brush, but you are also straining that one motor to do everything, making it more likely to fail. Cleanability - there are three filters on this unit. A cone filter in the canister that separatea heavy items that may have accidentally been sucked up. It can be removed (kind of a pain, but I also wouldn't want it coming out easy) and easily cleaned with a toothbrush. Under the canister is a foam filter which does an amazing job. We used to use the baking soda carpet "refresher" and this vacuum would get all of it up out of the carpet and trap it forever. I pop out the foam, take it out back and smack it on the deck and fence a bunch, and pop it back in, no need to replace. Under the foam filter is a HEPA filter. Same deal, take it out back, smack the dust out of it, done. All of the parts are washable, just make sure they are DRYYYYY before they go back in to eliminate the possibility of mold growth Ergonomics - Very simple and well set up. Power switch is an actual switch, not a pedal, and you can chose to have just suction for hard floors, or to run the brush and suction for carpet. Releasing the wand is my favourite! Single, satisfying click of a button next to the power switch on top of the canister and it pops right out and has another satisfying click when you replace it. No inconveniently placed push-fit hose that you don't know if it is on correctly. Super easy to use; very well designed. Also, NO PEDALS on the vacuum! Finally! Someone decided that putting a normal power switch on a unit AND it lets you release the main brush by pushing down with your foot anywhere on it. I lothe pedals on a vacuum. This one is very intuitive to use and I love that. Features - Headlights are a must on a vacuum at this point. Our old one did not have any, and I didn't know any different, but seriously, I find dirt and hair a ton of places that I normally would have just ignored. It also lets me see how well the vacuum is operating and if a clean-out is in my future. Speaking of which, on top of the main brush head is a large green/red light indicator. This turns read any time something majorly tanglea up in the brush (which is not often) or if there is a suction issue (again, a rare occasion). But I just love that it has something to say "Hey dude, something is wrong" so I can turn it off and not burn out the motors or belts. Also, when you stand the unit upright, the brush automatically stops, and when you push the brush down with your foot, the brush automatically starts. Such a simple way to save use hours on a motor and uneeded wear and tear on the brush. There is also swivel steering, which is just as good as any other unit claiming to be innovative with their "new steering technology" with tilting or a big ball at the back. This thing steers great and tilts any way you want it to. And the last thing it has, which I admit that I don't use often because the whole unit is pretty light, is the "lift-off" capability. Basically, you push a button and leave the brush head behind and carry the unit while using the wand. Pretty cool feature and some people may use it a lot. The reason I love it is because I know that if the brush motor has a major issue, I can just buy a whole new bush head instead of replacing the entire unit. Honestly, about once every six months I go through the unit, clean it out, cut off any long strands that get caught up in the brush, and go back to business. We used this vacuum HARD, and it has been a warrior 🪖. For the $120 we paid for it, we have been so happy, to the point where I am looking at upgrading our main unit to a Kenmore canister vacuum and using this on our upper floors. A few weeks ago when our Hoover shampooer died, we ended up with... You guessed it, a KENMORE. And once again, that has a bunch of little features and bunch of design differences that make it a new favourite of mine, but that's for another review. Don't waste your money on bull crap low end box store brands like Bissel, Dirt Devil, Eureka, etc. and there is no reason to pay HUNDREDS of dollars for the Sharks and Dysons of the world. Just be smart and keep it Kenmore.

Definitely worth it.
The Kenmore Featherlite DU4080 really deserves 4.5 stars. Assembly is simple, everything snaps together snugly and fits well. Getting the vacuum floor cleaning head to release for regular vacuuming was a bit to get use to but after two times I figured it out without the video or manual. This vacuum did very well with cleaning medium pile carpeting on a two level home, and has effective suction for hard flooring as well. Storing the wand attachments onboard is incredibly handy and a time saver. I really appreciate the handle turning into a quick release wand for crevices and baseboards. The emptying and cleaning of the canister is quick and easy, and the canister lifting off is helpful for cleaning stairs, especially for someone with arthritis in my hands. I like that there is a suction indicator light on the front. The swivel head is balanced well, not too wobbly but doesn’t take a lot of effort to rotate either. Overall, it does a great job and I would absolutely buy it again. I have 3 dogs (Weimaraners) and it lifts their hair very effectively. My hair is about 4 foot long so the brush roll will need cleaned more often than an average persons vacuum would require but that’s understandable, and cleaning the brush roll is quick and simple. Storing the vacuum is easy, because of its compact size.

Overall Performance Details - From Good to Poor in 8 weeks - Pics to Prove
REVIEW UPDATED: January 29, 2022 Includes 2 photos of carpet up close to show the matting of the carpet (meaning, it does not stand the carpet up, and actually wears the carpet down.) First use is the photos of the table/office, bed, and stairs, and the vacuum. After 8 weeks, the photos of the carpet upclose shows the damage, the flattening, from this vacuum not being able to pull the carpet up by the nap - leaving to a disaster of a carpet issue at 8 weeks. You can tell, the tight carpet on picture 2 is before, and the flat, spread out carpet is picture 1. Kenmore Goal: Kenmore seems to want to do the right thing, innovating a vacuum with Hepa filters and improvements in loss of power. With the goal of clean living and clean health, why does Kenmore still use carcinogenic and non-compliant Prop 65 parts and materials? Additionally, this was hidden - as in, lack of transparency. It's not stated on my Amazon website, probably because I'm not in CA. However the only way I knew this was non-Prop 65 compliant, was when I pulled it out of the Amazon box, and since it was in the box face down, the bottom of the Kenmore box was up, and the label disclosing this was on the bottom of the vacuum box. Environment: 2 bedroom townhouse, 2 full flight of staircases, and only the 2 bedrooms have carpet. Carpet is also not walked on with shoes, shoes remain outside. Vacuum Itself: The swivel! Not good! The swivel feature of the vacuum seems great in theory, but I found that the vacuum does not want to drive straight, it has a natural ability for the canister and handle to migrate left or right while you are vacuuming. This means, you will have to continually apply pressure to keep the vacuum handle in the straight position to vacuum in a straight line. This becomes problematic as soon as you vacuum half a room, you will start to feel the effects of this in a tired wrist and hand. It's similar to if you have gone to a grocery store, and you get a cart that pulls left, and you spend the whole time pushing and trying to compensate for the pull by pulling to the right. Imagine doing that the entire time with the vacuum, with one hand. That is what you get here. Moving on to the suction .... it is mediocre at best. I get how a few people say it makes the carpet nap stand up. It does not. Facts are, that in some review photos, you can see the hair around the beater bar. If a vacuum has proper suction, the hair will be pulled into the canister, and not remain on the beater bar. I have not one hair on my Hoover Windtunnel. While it might give the top / upper layer of carpet a darker and cleaner look, if you look down closer, you will see that this does not reach the deep nap. I've attached 2 photos (before and after) up close to show the carpet just laying on its side. In fact, after 8 weeks of it laying down, I hope my carpet is not ruined. I'm returning this! I tried vacuuming the area in that one photo many different directions each day and this vacuum does NOT suck, it will NOT stand the carpet up. Stairs: What a disaster! Going from stair to stair leaves the bottom of the vacuum dangling as you make your descent to the next step. The dangle cause the vacuum part (bottom base) to swing wildly and hit my wall on the staircase. I've never hit my wall vacuuming. But I went to go from one step to the next, and when I picked it up off the stair, it started swinging wildly. Too much trouble and work to keep trying to get it from stair to stair without this wild dangle. Cord: Excellent length. I don't have to move it from top floor to bottom floor in the middle of the stairs. Floors: I tried this in the bathroom, and again, the swivel gets stuck on a path it wants to take. I was vacuuming close to the edge of the vanity, and the vacuum is pulling right due to the swivel steering right. I'm trying to get closer to the edge of the vanity, which is on my left side, and I back up the vacuum 3 times and redirected it, and all 3 times it only wanted to steer right, even though I've got my hand on the handle for a straight forward position. I ended up having to pick up the vacuum and force it to go the path I wanted. Weight: Seems fine until you have to vacuum a whole room, trying to get the steering straight. I don't think I would like to clean a large living room of carpet with this, especially if you are someone who likes to pull things out and do the whole room. Noise Level: Seems fine, but sounds weak, almost a soft whine, seems a little on the wimpy side. You can tell on the first start up, that this vacuum will never be a EUREKA BOSS - the former vacuum they used to sell before trying to pawn this cheap stuff off as a vacuum to clean your whole house, when basically it's only for throw rugs.! Design: WAF (weird as *) hose holding design. I see a lot of vacuums with the same concept, however on this vacuum, the hose is too long for where they have the placement of the top hose hook, so the hose tends to hang very sloppily, looks already like it will do a poor job because with that much slack it will be hard for air to move through. Overall Performance (Scale 1 - 10) 5. I found I had to vacuum our two rooms, two times each back to back to walk away with the same carpet appearance that I have with my Hoover. So double the effort due to the swivel, and then double the time to vacuum to achieve a somewhat aesthetically pleasing looks makes this a poor choice of a vacuum for me. Tools on Board: I didn't try the tools because I know it's getting returned, and I wanted to make sure I minimized using it since I know it's a dud for me. Price: For $162 out the door (free shipping), I would say it's not priced accurately. I feel a price of $99 is more in line with the performance and lack of features. I didn't find a way to adjust the suction, and knew in advance that there is no carpet height settings. Pictures: I know I know ... you will see the pictures and think it looks great. I understand, but I achieve a better result, with less effort with my Hoover. Also, we don't wear shoes in our house, so the uprighting of the nap of the carpet should be easier than in households that do wear shoes, because of the weight the shoes and surface that will squish the carpet down. At any rate, I did get the 2 rooms vacuumed, and the stairs, but I have one more staircase to go, and I had to take a break. I never have to take a break. I'm very fit, but this vacuum takes a lot out of you.

Does the job!
I purchased a Kenmore vacuum cleaner 3 years ago and I highly recommend it! I was about to buy my third Shark, frustrated that it was not picking up dirt, but rather spitting it back or leaving a little pile to irritate me . I checked the hoses, nothing was clogged etc. I spent time on youtube trouble-shooting and finally, I landed on a vacuum repair site. That video was quite an education! Even repair shops have a difficult time repairing Sharks. Kenmore was one of the brands that got good reviews so I decided to try it. I wanted a lightweight, turn on a dime, and easy to empty canister. Not taking up a lot of storage space was a factor. It does well on hardwood or carpet and the suction is good. Cool color too. Great quality for a good price. A.D.

The best $124 I have ever spent
This vacuum is light and modular, which enables me to cleaning up the hard to get to spots without having to drag the whole vacuum with me. My last upright vacuum was from the 2009, it had powerful suction and the assisting mechanism that helps with pushing the vacuum. But after that assisting motor stopped working, the weight of that vacuum made vaccuming the carpet a physical workout. Now that I have this new vacuum, it feels like I'm using a broom. This vacuum can reach underneath the chairs and tables without the need of using the special tool. I especially liked the swivaling feature which made moving the vacuum around the tight corners a breeze. I definetly will recommend this vacuum to people that are looking for one but wanting to keep the spending down below $150.

Quality goes downhill fast
So we purchased this vacuum twice. The first time my hubs purchased this I was super impressed. I loved the light, how you can easily take apart the roller to clean it, as well as the easy access to the multiple filters to replace and/or clean them. It’s also relatively lightweight compared to older models and the suction felt strong. Heck, even the instructions were presented on a nice piece of lamenated material. I was sold. Between having younger mess makers, 2 hairy cats and me with the very long locks, we are pretty rough on our vaccums in general. But those small, cheap ones from Roses seemed to last us much longer than this. Over the course of the year the front handle part popped off, it lost some suction power despite how much I cleaned it out and then I lost a piece that connected to the tank whenever I dumped out the contents and it wouldn’t work properly after that. We finally decided to purchase a new one (the teal one at the very same price the black friday “deal” is at $120, but on a regular day lol.) The second time within the first week the same part of the handle cover popped off and the tubes are now easily disconnecting from both ends making it impossible for a quick vacuum. I have to stop and reinstall them most times despite there being a little tab meant to keep the one side secured. Just feeling like the quality isn’t there long term and since it started falling apart waaaay faster the second time around this brand really doesn’t deserve my loyalty. So we’ll ride it till the wheels fall off but then I’m looking elsewhere.

110V Model, Not EU/UK suitable
Excellent hoover for all surfaces but buyer beware, this is a 110V model (US) so incompatible with EU/UK electrics, you'd need a step down convertor for it to work and they aren't cheap.

Finally Found a Vacuum That Works
I’ve been very impressed with the Kenmore DU4080 so far. The suction power is strong and it does an excellent job picking up pet hair from both carpets and furniture. I have dogs that shed a lot, and this vacuum noticeably cuts down on hair and dust around the house. It’s also lightweight and easy to maneuver, which makes cleaning stairs and tight spaces much easier. For the price, this vacuum performs extremely well and feels comparable to more expensive models. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to other pet owners.

NOT EU compatible
Looked good but took for granted that it would be EU compatible as it was sold Amazon sweden.
