It is a unique colored sweet potato that is reddish purple inside, and the most consumed potato in Okinawa. The purple color contains polyphenol which has antioxidant effect, used for cooking, sweets such as cake and ice cream, cosmetic, and other various uses.I have started Japanese Sweet Potatoes in seven half-whiskey barrel containers. I got just as much yield from the container as I did from a Raised Bed, but it was so much easier to harvest the Okinawan Sweet Potatoes in the container. Misleading product information
The ad and additional information indicated you could expect excellent yields from this product. The potatoes rotted. No slips grew and the seller said the potatoes were only for consumption. VERY MISLEADING! Seller refused refund.

Packaged good. Pototoes in good condition. Ready to eat or plant for more. These are a favorite of mine and I bought these to grow slips and have plenty year round. They were fresh. Before buying to grow do your research so you don't blame seller if something goes wrong. Also, the smaller ones will need to be planted sooner. I did eat one and was pleased with the great taste. Excellent quality. I didn't weigh but total seemed more than pound. Appearance was great with no blemishes. Growth as you can see in photo is great if you research how to do it and follow. I prefer this method to plant slips to make more pototoes.

Disappointing for slip starting
The three stars are for excellent condition they were in. However, I bought these to start slips with. Three weeks after placing in a box with soil, not one eye has produced a start of a slip. The description does not indicate these were organic, so I am thinking they may have been treated to delay sprouting. Unless they sprout soon, before rotting away, this will be considered a total waste of money.

They sprouted
Three weeks passed and I was ready to admit that I had a couple of dud yams. The next morning the first sprout appeared. Three days later they look like this picture. I will have plenty of slips to plant a couple of weeks from now. If all goes well I may be able to harvest more than fifty pounds at the end of September.
