Highly recommended, great jars!
Canning jars were just what I needed for pressure canning. Finding proper canning jars that do not cost a fortune here in the UK is like trying to find Nessie. These were on sale and I bought several cases. They were perfect. They arrived on time with no issues whatsoever. They were sterilised and used right away for making some individual meals to be shelf stable. The seals worked perfectly and with the price of food constantly jumping up, these jars make sure there is no waste when things are on sale. Living in the Highlands our power can be iffy at times so I prefer canning instead of having everything in the freezer. With these jars and the bigger sizes, My shopping has dramatically lowered in cost for our household. I shop according to the “loss leader” the various supermarkets near me or on my route to/from work. Those sales the store takes a loss on to get you in their door in hopes you will then buy more things and they make their money back. You soon see the pattern of when they have their meat, produce, dairy, etc on those much cheaper specials. That is when I shop for those particular items. I bring them home and either if I am too busy to can them right away, they go in the freezer until I am ready to begin canning them. If I do that, I cut up the meat into various cuts (I always buy the biggest roasts and then break them down into various cuts), I chop up the veg in various sizes depending on the things I like to make with them, so chopped small is for soups, larger for stews and casseroles, into pieces for just having as a side, etc. I freeze and can in portion sizes so there is nothing wasted. Then I only need to buy enough of the loss leaders to last until the next time those items are back on again. Then during December when produce is silly prices to get you through their door, I assess my jars and see if I need to buy more (they are normally on sale also), and I buy the veg and fruit, as much as I can get, and prepare them the same way. After the Holidays, all the excess meat gets reduced (turkey, ham, etc and that is when the prices drop and I buy as much of that as I can for 6-12 months of meat meals, for freezing and especially canning. With the savings you make just Loss Leader shopping for your food (if you cook from scratch), your jars soon pay for themselves because they can be washed and used again for many years whereas the plastic used by many to freeze with are not reusable or rather aren't generally reused by most and are not good for our environment or for holding food if you care about your health. The jars can be used in the freezer, just remember to leave some space at the top as they will expand a little. Once the lid is off the jar (thawed if used in the freezer) the contents, for example soups, chilli, stews, sides, etc can be microwaved if you want instead of using the stove to reheat, for home cooked instant meals. My jars have saved me money in several ways, and if I am able to get them on sale, I grab extra. I use some for storing dry goods as they are air tight, for example my baking supplies, flours, sugars, etc, my dried pulses, pastas, etc. I even use the jars as a drinking glass if necessary. I water bath can (only for acidic foods) and pressure can, I freeze with them, I make fermented foods in them, and I even bring a few when I am shopping for anything from the deli section of the supermarket and ask for the items to be put in my jars, they just set the jar, without the lids, on the scale and tare it, ie zero it out, before adding whatever you are buying. Then cover it with the lids, and put the stickers on them for going through the checkout. Then the only thing you have to throw away are the pricing labels. No need to sort where the store’s packaging goes in the recycling bins either. Yes, you have to wash the jars, but that is not a big deal. These jars are something I recommend for every household. You will find so many uses for them that will save you money. They are no longer suitable for canning or freezing once they get a chip, but they are still useful for storing your dried goods as well as using for holding other things, all the excess screws and bolts; office supplies such as paper clips, rubber bands, etc; crafting supplies; pens and pencils; even for plant cuttings, and so much more. These jars save a plethora of money and more so as you find other uses for them. I would give a much higher star rating as these jars are great! I would not hesitate to recommend these jars to anyone.

Seems great so far
I Bought these a few weeks ago but not sure if they would work for pressure canning, so have yet to try, packing was excellent. I've used mine for pickled beetroot and they coped perfectly well with the boiling hot vinegar when it was poured in. So I will be buying more to do the pears in as I have a tremendous amount this year on the tree.

Lovely Mason Jars but .......
Lovely Mason jars received today. They appear to be a very well made product. That was until I used them yesterday and one of them cut my finger badly. First time I had used them and I have been "bottling" for years, but this is the only time I have ever had a jar crack when water canning. I am not new to this system of bottling, and take all the right precautions to ensure safe usage, but this really was disappointing. If the seller has a spare jar, I would appreciate one being sent to me. Thank you!

dangerous fault on inside of glass jar
The packaging was faultless - safe and secure. Inside, one of the jars had a fault in the glass which caused a segment to 'blow off' on the inside of the jar, leaving a sharp edge; loose shards; and the jar unusable. Unfortunately we had started using the top row of jars in the package before finding the fault so cannot return the product. Watch out!!
