Does this work with tidal connect ?

Hi there, The remote is compatible with TIDAL Connect, allowing you to easily skip tracks, go back to previous ones, and adjust the volume—this includes both volume up/down and mute functions. Best Regards, WiiM Team

The four preset buttons that can be programmed for other devices, can this be IR remotes or just WiFi connected remotes?

The remote can only be used for the WiiM devices. It doesn't use Wi-Fi to communicate with the WiiM devices. It uses the BLE protocol. You can use the remote to control the WiiM devices in about 10+ meters.
