This watch is a quartz chronograph that can time events up to twelve hours . It features three sub-dials : running seconds , 60 minute totalizer , and the twelve hour totalizer . The movement is made by Seiko and is a mecha - quartz movement. The chronograph second hand sweeps just like a mechanical chronograph and when the reset button is pressed, all chronograph hands snap back to zero same as a mechanical chronograph. The case is a bead blasted finish, giving a grey non reflective military appearance. The watch also features a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The chronograph pushers are screw down as is the crown, giving the watch a 100 meter water resistance. Another useful feature is that the dial is luminous. Altogether, a very good value for the money!

The lume is surprisingly bright and long lasting. I get a lot of compliments about its simple but stylish look. The size is great for my 6.5 inch wrist and it is very comfortable. It's surprisingly tough. Even after a few hard knocks and submerging it under water, with the crowns tightly screwed down, the watch hold up pretty well.

The watch arrived 2 days after ordering in a minimal case and packaging that shows concern for the environment. The satin finish on 316 SS looks awesome! The machining on the big screw-down crown and locking chrono buttons is very crisp and totally functional! The multi-colored lume on this watch is also very impressive and lasts through the night. The very slightly curved sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating on the inside provide excellent readability. Overall, I really don't have anything bad to say about this watch and I look forward to seeing how it holds up. Normally, I wear mechanical watches, so this is a little unusual for me, but everything fits, the price, the looks and even a nato strap, my favorite! And as an added bonus, the sweep second hand of the stopwatch actually "sweeps" like a mechanical movement. Very nice! I will follow up on this review, once I get an idea of accuracy, wear and water resistance.

*7 months update - this keeps excellent time, I now own 2 of these and they are my favorite watches. I have taken both swimming several times, worked on heavy equipment, used splitting mauls and chainsaws, and gotten them covered in grease, diesel, and tree sap. They clean up easy and just keep going. If this had full c3 lume and a day/date complication (not available with this movement, I know) it would be the last watch I ever bought.* I originally ordered on Ali where it is usually considerably cheaper, but because it contains a battery it was returned before it left China. So I decided I wanted it bad enough to order through Amazon, and having worn it for a while now I think it was still worth the price increase for the security of actually receiving it and also having the ability to return it if there was any issue. My only other watch besides smart watches is an addiesdive MY-H2 automatic, so that's what I can compare it to. The militado has "pretty" lume, but it is terrible in comparison to the addiesdive. The addiesdive only takes a brief time in sunlight and is then freakishly bright even just stepping into the shade or walking indoors, and it lasts for 6+ hours which is convenient at night. The Militado has high quality paint, but it must have fewer layers, because even after a long time in the sun, it isn't very bright and lasts for very little time. The AR coating on the militado is not as good as the addiesdive, but is not bad enough to complain about, and may also be due to the different shape of the sapphire on the two. The large hand on the militado is the chrono hand, so it sits still on the watch unless the chronograph is running, while the 6:00 subdial is the main second hand. This is fine, but the large second hand is just slightly off center, only enough to tell at certain angles, but it is somewhat noticeable. Another purchaser might exchange it for a different one, but it's so close that it's just not worth the hassle to me. It's a beautiful watch. The matte case finish is great, the chrono buttons have a great click to them, and the hacking is flawless. The crown screws are well machined and don't hang up at all opening or closing. The band that comes with it is stiff and short, so if you have large wrists beware. It is comfortable to wear but I switched to a leather strap and I'm much happier with that. Of interest, the date version comes with wider, illuminated subdial hands, while the non date version does not. I would absolutely buy this watch again at about $100, it is worth every penny and I have no regrets despite the minor issues I have mentioned.
