EMAY Portable ECG Monitor | Record ECG and Heart Rate | Compatible with Smartphone and PC

As a physician, I feel qualified to evaluate both the usability and the quality of a portable ECG device. After using the EMAY portable ECG monitor, I've been genuinely impressed. The device is extremely easy to use, produces consistently clear tracings, and has proven to be very accurate in my experience. One of the biggest advantages is the built-in high-resolution display. Being able to immediately view both the ECG tracing and the interpretation directly on the device is a major benefit and, in my opinion, makes it superior to its primary competitor, the KardiaMobile. Another huge advantage is no subscription. You have full access to your recordings and features without paying an ongoing monthly fee. The companion app is excellent. Installation was straightforward on both my Android phone and my wife's iPhone. We have profiles for both of us on my phone, and switching between users is literally a three-tap process. The in-app tutorials are exceptionally well done, and it's very easy to export or print ECG reports from either the app or your computer to share with your cardiologist. The monitor has outstanding battery life and recharges quickly. My only minor criticism is that it still uses a micro-USB charging cable instead of USB-C. Hopefully EMAY updates this in the next generation. Obtaining a clean tracing is surprisingly easy. Using the left arm, chest, or leg as one of the electrode contact points consistently produces excellent recordings. Compared with the competing device I've used, I find the EMAY much more forgiving—you can simply hold it naturally without needing to keep it perfectly still on a flat surface. I also appreciate the thoughtful customization options. You can: - Choose 10-, 15-, or 30-second recording lengths. - Adjust the bradycardia and tachycardia alert thresholds. - Turn off the heartbeat beep during recording if you prefer. Bluetooth connectivity has also been flawless. Unlike the competitor's ultrasonic communication system—which interfered with my hearing aids—the EMAY's Bluetooth connection has worked perfectly. While I highly recommend using the app, it's nice that you don't have to. You can still view your ECG tracing and interpretation directly on the device itself. One tip: definitely purchase the carrying case. It fits the monitor perfectly, is surprisingly compact while providing excellent protection, and even includes a carabiner for attaching it to a backpack or belt loop—a thoughtful touch. Even better, EMAY offers a 50% discount on the case if you email customer service your Amazon order number. The instructions are clearly explained on the second page of the excellent user manual. Overall, EMAY has produced an outstanding portable ECG monitor. It's easy to use, delivers consistently clean recordings, has an excellent app, exports reports effortlessly, offers long battery life, and eliminates the recurring subscription costs charged by some competitors. After using both systems, this is the one I would recommend.

I've worked for over 30 years in the medical device field, specializing in non-invasive cardiology. I ordered this monitor to keep an eye on my heart health, since I suffered a heart attack about 18 months ago. I didn't expect much for the price and size but this little device is remarkable and has exceeded all expectations. The trace quality is amazing. I provided a screenshot from the app of my actual EKG take today. It looks as good as the tracings I've seen on devices costing fifty times as much as this little device and the best part is it is tiny so you can take it with you anywhere. I love that it has a display, unlike its main competitor that you see advertised on TV. You can take a reading without getting out your phone and then download the data wirelessly to your phone when convenient. You can also download the data to your PC with the included USB cable. The device quickly takes a reading and displays the ECG waveform on the built in LCD screen. When you start taking a reading, the waveform turns from red to green and the timer starts a countdown from 30 seconds. When it gets to zero, you are done. This cool little monitor can detect several different abnormalities and no subscription is required. If nothing abnormal is detected, it will say "No Abnormalities" The case looks durable and the charge lasts a long time. The only area I can see for improvement would be to have a USB-C charging jack on the device rather than the micro USB currently used. Here are some tips for getting a great tracing. While you can use the device on your two hands or palms, you will get a better reading if you take a reading from the chest. The important thing to remember is the right side of the device has 2 metal pads. You need to make contact to both of those pads with your right finger or palm. You want to use the base of the finger, not the fingertip. The manual has photos of this on page 4. One of those pads on the right side of the monitor is a ground so if you aren't making good contact to both pads, you will get poor trace quality. The left side pad can be applied to your left index finger, left wrist, left leg or left side of the chest (just below the breast). The chest will give you the best readings. All ECG monitors read the electrical signals from your heart so they need to conduct those signals from your skin. If your skin is dry, you will get poor tracings. If you flex your muscles in your hand, arms or chest while taking a reading, it will impact the quality. If you are getting poor tracings, it is likely because of one of these reasons or you may have dry skin. Try wetting the skin with water or alcohol. You can also use ultrasound gel, which you can get at the pharmacy or dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water then dab a paper towel or cloth in the solution and dampen the area of your skin where you plan to take the reading. The tracings shown below were taken from the left side of my chest without any gel or saline solution but everyone has different skin. Be patient, use a gentle but firm touch and you will get good results. Overall, I really love the device and give it 5 stars and an enthusiastic recommendation. INTRODUCTION: The Emay 2 lead Portable ECG Monitor cannot provide all the information from a medical-grade 12 lead ECG! However, it is an inexpensive and useful way to find out if your heart symptoms show any possible Heart Rate and Rhythm issues to share with your doctor. The Emay Report can suggest Rate, Rhythm and Waveform issues such as Arrhythmia, Tachycardia, Bradycardia, Missed Beats, ST Elevation/Depression, and various Ventricular Premature Beats (PVC's). The results can be saved to a PDF file with excellent resolution so that your doctor can validate the report suggestions. MY EXPERIENCE: (See attached ECG report extract). In my case, it has reliably and repeatedly detected an Arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythm) but does not suggest which specific type (mine is probably not AFIB but the pattern indicates Sinus Arrhythmia). I am also taking 30second samples after various activities or when symptoms such as light headedness or palpitations occur. USING IT: I found that the “Right Index Finger to Left ‘Under Nipple’ Chest connection method gives me the best results (see below for more details). It is very important to have good contact of the clean finger and clean chest surfaces with the clean Emay Metal Electrode Surfaces. It is also important to place the bottom electrode consistently on the same spot on the chest below the Left Nipple. (The manual has good photos to show the proper placement). The Emay will sample the signals and will start a 30 second recording session once it decides that it has detected a regular heart beat. However, it will collect a bunch of junk waves if you change your grip or move. I suggest that you watch the display waveform during the 30 seconds of sampling to confirm that there is a regular clean pattern. GENERATING REPORT: I was able to easily use both the PC and IPHONE based applications to download 30second Results from the Emay. This is necessary, since you need a large screen to see the waveform details. One can add remarks to the Reports. In addition, I found it best to save the Report as a pdf file to my PC. The PDF version of the report can be greatly enlarged on the PC screen to make it easier to measure the milliSeconds and mVolt data from the graph grids. In addition, the pdf reports can easily be sent to your doctor's patient portal. More details and Background: When the Emay 2electrode ECG measures traces between the Right Index Finger and Left Under Nipple Chest wall it gives a clean 30 second ECG Trace similar to the V4 to V6 leads of a full ECG report. These traces emphasize Left Ventricular electrical activity and can provide good details of the P,Q,R,S,T ECG Heart waveform. What Emay Report can do well: 1. Measure and Report Heart Rate 2. Detect and suggest various abnormal Rhythms (Arrhythmia's) including AFIB, Sinus Arrhythmias, Ventricular tachycardia, Premature ventricular contractions, Sinus bradycardia, etc. 3. Provide accurate time and voltage amplitude grids via the heart electrical waveform on the Y:mV/X:mS Graph Report Grid of the P,Q,R,S,T waveform to allow the user to measure and visualize: - extra peaks or valleys, changes in slopes, changes in amplitudes and time intervals. (Note: a trace showing AFIB will show regular QRS patterns with numerous ‘S’ wave patterns in-between indicating Atrial fibrillation). - ST Segment Elevations and Depressions (indications of ischemia) - Long or Short QRS intervals - Abnormal widths, shapes and amplitudes of R, Q, T waves The PDF report can be used by your doctor to look for signs of heart problems like ischemia (low blood flow) by looking for ST segment Elevations or Depressions, long QT intervals, etc. What it can’t do: It does not have the details and complexity of the 12-lead Report! The 12 lead Medical-grade ECG report has 13 or more linked Waveform Reports which give far more information about Heart Electrical activity. These separate traces when examined by a ECG Specialist, can give information about what parts of the heart have issues, and if the Electrical Signal Axis of the heart is normal. These reports are a blessing and a curse since these reports are difficult to interpret by most non-medical people. Bottom Line: The Emay Portable ECG monitor is a good layman’s Front-Line Heart Monitor tool for providing more than just Pulse and Blood-Pressure Heart data to share with their doctors when they have Heart Health concerns.

The device arrived on time and was fully charged out of the box. Setting up the app on my android phone and pairing the device was simple and took only one try. Taking a reading and saving it to my phone was a breeze. Can also send it to the my chart app for cardiologist review. Overall very happy that I purchased this device rather than a more popular one that seems to have some issues.

I prefer this to its competitor because it lets you save multiple charts without requiring a subscription. Also, the real time display is very useful and informative. A couple of downsides: First, trying to get your fingers in a comfortable position to hold against the terminals is difficult. The device is very sensitive to how firmly you grip it and due to its small size it's difficult for my adult fingers to keep constant contact because there is no natural way to grip it. Second, I frequently got a reading that said "Possible arrythmia" after the 30 second reading. I'm not sure what that means. I think it means that my fingers didn't make firm contact throughout the whole 30 second reading and so there was noise in the results that kept it from determining if there's a problem or not. But I wish they would give you a bit more information so you can try to fix the problem, if that's what it is. Overall, this is a nice device.

I looked at several heart monitors before choosing the EMAY EMG-20. Being one of the last humans not hardwired to a smartphone I wanted something that was a stand-alone model and easy to use. The reviews were positive and I liked the idea I could hook it up to my laptop to print out results. The unit is smaller than I thought, a nice plus. The app was a speedy download and quite intuitive to use, although the owner's manual that came in the box is more than enough to get by on. A few practice runs and I was set; the results have been consistent and reassuring. I'm glad my cardiologist suggested I get a monitor for my a-fib and even happier I chose the EMAY unit. Oh, the rechargeable battery lasts for 2-3 hours, which might not sound like much until you realize each use is only around 30 seconds. That's an awful lot of tests on one charge! Always great when you find a product that meets your needs and exceeds your expectations!

Love this monitor. I use it quite often as I get sinus tachichardy due to stress or chest pain (due to different factors) and it gives me a peace of mind when needed. I have been using it for 3 months and no complain about it. Not only it gives you your heart rate but it actually shows your ekg and tells you if something is abnormal. You can transfer the results to your phone and save them to show your doctor or send them. I showed it to my doctor and he was very excited to see a monitor like this, one that can be so helpful not just for the owner, but also for the doctor so he can review the ECG that were recorded at the time of the event since they cannot always capture the issue when you go see them after or at the ER. He was so impressed that he actually took down the information so he can refer it to his other patients. A couple of advices; make sure that you wait long enough for the monitor to warm up to your skin when taking a reading and to be laying down. My doctor explained, after looking at my records, that if you take it sitting down with the goal of seeing the EKG, it will not accurately record the sinus rhythm. If you just want to know your heart rate, then it doesn't matter. To get a good EKG reading, the one where you see the sinus's little bump right before the Chambers' big bump, You can place it directly over your heart or under your breast, as long as you are laying down, it will get all the information needed for a good reading. Did I say I love this thing? One more thing, I charged the monitor when I received it 3 months ago, and it still has 3/4 of the battery life. I definitely recommend this tool.

I am very happy with this portable ECG monitor. It is easy to use, provides quick and reliable readings, and gives me greater peace of mind when monitoring my heart health. The device is compact, well-designed, and convenient to carry wherever I go.
