d-c-fix Privacy Glass Window Film, Rice Paper, 17 in x 78 in

This window film is fantastic. It is such a beautiful and easy fix for any window or glass pane that needs covering. It is not completely opaque, but it has a nice translucency. The rice paper look also gives is a nice subtle texture, as opposed to being plain white. It is a cinch to apply, as well. An important application tip: use a ruler to measure out the window space first. Then measure those dimensions out on the film. Once measured, use an x-acto knife or utility blade to cut the piece out so that it can fit perfectly into the space. This is the easiest way to get it to fit properly. Also, when applying, it is helpful to start from one end (or corner) and smooth each section out as you move along adhering the film to the glass. This will prevent any air bubbles from getting caught. If you have any leftover that is fitting past the glass, you can then trim it with a blade (although this shouldn't happen if you properly measured). The wonderful thing about this particular film is that it can be easily peeled back if you make a mistake and reapplied OR can be removed completely if it needs to come off permanently. I would definitely recommend this window film. It's a really great, cost-effective option for covering up glass.

I love it. Easy to work with cutting and putting up on windows. I used plenty of water and paper went up easily. Trick: Cut as precisely as possible so you don't have to move it around to make it fit. It was like a big, fun craft project. No mess, no clean up except toss out backing paper. Did this project (7 bedroom windows, 24 x 24) on a cold rainy day, and it took about an hour and a half. I had to piece each window because the width did not cover the whole window and the second piece went up easily and seam is invisible. I love the frosty appearance and now my neighbor can't see in and I can leave my drapes open and let in soft light. It doesn't look hoaky, it looks fabulous.

I have a big window that is very low to the ground. My dog barks at passing dogs. For several years I have been looking for a solution and stumbled upon this. It was pretty easy to put up singlehandedly. It is basically removable "contact paper" for windows. When the package came it was marked "transparent" so I was worried they had sent the wrong thing but they didn't. It is actually translucent. It lets in lots of light while blocking visibility. The rice paper pattern is extremely forgiving when it comes to bubbles. I have some bubbles that I had no idea were there till I ran my hand over it. If I had it to do over again, I would probably unfurl it a little more slowly and use my hand more during application to smooth and "watch" for bubbles. But not worth a redo in my opinion. Yeah it was fairly easy but getting it lined up exactly can still be a bear. I knew this might be too narrow for my purpose. It stopped my dog for about one day and they she discovered if she stood on her hind legs she could still see out and bark. I may add another strip to make it a little higher.

This film works well on my windows. I originally ordered only two rolls to start, but I immediately ordered two more to cover a few more windows, after seeing the finished results! I love the look of this pattern and I love the ease of application! Measure the area well and cut your pieces to leave about 1" overlap on all sides, and use a straight edge blade or box cutter to cut the excess after it's in place. I was able to cut through the film very easily. (Smooth it out several times with a water/soap solution to get rid of air bubbles.) I now have muted sunlight coming through my uncovered windows instead of hot, direct light. It has improved the temperature in those rooms already, after only a week of application. This is an awesome and cost-effective solution to drapes/curtains on odd-shaped windows.

First, let me say that this product allows for personal privacy, you can see some shadows but nothing major. I used it on my office doors and now you don't see the mess from the other side and it still let's in plenty of light, that's a big plus! Regarding air bubbles, the rice paper matte textured look is very forgiving with regard to installation imperfections on the product side of the window. However on the opposite side of the window, depending on how the light is hitting it, air bubbles do show even after smoothing during installing. Call me a perfectionist, but this is very annoying and it seems to be the norm with most products or I just can't get it right. My French doors have 30 panes of glass in them, talk about a pain! While reading reviews on Amazon regarding these types of products, on reviewer said they took the product to Kinko's and had them cut it for them. I didn't try that but maybe I should have. I have attached pics of the three products, the frosted glass and textured glass look cling products, and this rice paper look contact paper product. The frosted cling product seemed to look worse after it dried, the glass look didn't show anything (yeah!), and this product, the rice paper look, is what I ended up choosing for all windows but the top row, I left that with the glass look. This is somewhat of a static cling application but without using water. It is more like contact paper, you will notice static but the product has an adhesive on the backing. Once applied, it can be removed, but it's not as easy as the static cling product. That said, it is a little tricky applying. With static products using water, you can move the product around until it is in position, with this you have to un-stick and re-stick, so not as easy! It also has an odor like a new plastic shower curtain liner or a plastic table cloth. Once applied the smell is not as noticeable and hopefully will completely dissipate with time.

I bought a roll of this to cover part of the bedroom window in our apartment. We have kittens who really really really enjoy looking outside. Not bad in the living room where the plastic cheapy blinds can be up out of their reach all of the time. Not good in the bedroom where the blinds are closed 100% of the time. One of the kittens was chewing through the blinds and ripping the pieces down. We live in a ground floor apartment, so you can probably guess where I'm going with this. Enter this product! It looks attractive, was easy to put on, and easy to measure because of the grid on the back. It didn't cover quite as much window as I wanted, but covered about 90% so I can have the blinds overlapping just the top of the rice paper. Other reviewers suggested going slowly at about an inch at a time. You should absolutely do this if you have the patience, as I currently have a few bubbles where it's obvious I went a little fast. Because of the size of our windows, I used as much of it as I could and ended up with a small 9x2 inch piece. It looks good from the inside, good from the outside, and was easy to cut and measure. I do suggest that you have something holding the corners down when you're cutting it so it doesn't start rolling up on you. Cut it just a tad larger than the window you're trying to cover then use an exacto knife (or something similar) to cut off the excess. If you have a place that's bubbling, gently peel it back and smooth it back down with a credit card or plastic putty knife.

The good: it's more cost effective than curtains and more practical than curtains in many places. It does the job well, adds privacy without taking away the light. Doesn't look amazing but does look decent. The con: if you are using it on window/door pace that is very wide or long it's close to impossible to seamlessly match the edges of the multiple pieces needed for the coverage as the roll isn't very wide. Also the roll itself has way less on it than expected, so if you plan on covering multiple surfaces you will need more rolls than you think!

D c fix makes the best contact paper! This one is no exception. It’s easy to apply, reapply, clean, measure. It’s noticeably thicker than the other brands. This one has a very nice subtle pattern that represents traditional rice paper. I used it to cover the bottom half of kitchen windows and it is perfect-the light still comes through but is filtered and doesn’t hurt your eyes, the same result as a very sheer curtain. Very happy with it

Easy to measure and cut the size you need, provide privacy (I checked at night from outside you can see shapes in full bright light, but you can't really see) and looks great. Made in Germany, what else can you say :) The instruction are on the reverse in multiple languages. Arrived super fast too! Ordered from Canada on Aug 9, expected delivery: Aug 30-Sept 21, actual delivery Aug 17. I wish the roll was a bit bigger in size, my windows are not standard and 1.5 m of 2 m length went on just 1 window, but that's the one I wanted to cover, so I am happy.
