From their beginnings in vocal electronica FOG have mutated into one of the most innovative of the new wave of American alternative rock bands. The trio of Andrew Broder, Mark Erickson & Tim Glenn have spent the last two years touring as a rock combo, opening for DEERHOOF, THE NOTWIST and LOW and took time out to record the songs for 'Ditherer' with Low's engineer Tom Herbers. 'Ditherer' is eleven songs of hard edged leftfield rock and roll featuring collaborations with Alan and Mimi from LOW, MOUNT EERIE, ANDREW BIRD (SPUNK) and WHY?

makes my ears happy
I've had this fog record on mp3 for sometime, and I just had to have it on vinyl. The music is amazing, and the lyrics are quirky yet deep. Full of imaginative imagery, memorable melodies, and awesome odd time signatures. Just like with every one of my favorite albums, this one didn't immediately make sense to my ears.... but now it is in my top 5. One of the only works I can listen to all the way through, and then immediately want to listen to it again. The bass and drums do an amazing job of captivating my attention with playful rhythms that play in my head on repeat. Thanks Andrew Broder, Mark Erickson and Tim Glenn.

Pitchfork really missed the mark here
I felt compelled to write a review for this album after seeing what an awful one it received from Pitchfork. The first time i heard this i thought "This is kind of strange...and what's up with the dude's voice on certain parts?". Something about it intrigued me though and i came back to it...again...and again till i realized I had fallen in love. This is what great albums are. They require patience and they don't necessarily hook you from the very beginning. Every single song on this album has grown on me and it is now one of my favorites of all time. At this point I can even spout the lyrics of "Inflatable Ape pt 3" (and that is saying a lot).

The best album of 2007- hands down!
The Fog is a totally underrated band out of Minneapolis, consistently making making the most hard edged, challenging rock music anywhere. It's a shame more people don't know them. The lyrics verge between the surreal and the profound, and the music is constantly changing time and method, creating a fascinating sonic landscape. So it's hard to dance to, not everything needs to be that terrible crap they peddle on american idol. The Fog's Ditherer is headphone music of the highest degree.Do yourself a favor and BUY THIS ALBUM!
