Night Gallery: The Complete Series [DVD]

Expanded Dimensions...in Colours!
As soon as I fiinished watching, and absorbing, The Twilight Zone I remained...thirsty for more. Searching through Amazon.uk, I came upon The Night Gallery; I immediately sensed I had to have this complete set and continue my splendid trip to expanded knolwledge through lovely TV movies. These gems are grouped into episodes and each episode consists of films that generally last about 20-30 minutes, while a few just spark off for minutes, which is often enough to capture our souls and that's just what the writers intended. The movies are introduced by Mr.Rod Serling who presents the plot through framed pictures that, like portals, lead us to the various experiences in other dimensions. The cast of movies stars is exceptional and the viewing is perfect - no need for BD version. If you loved the TV series of the 70s, you immediately perceive that these episodes are a mix of Columbo, Charlie's Angels and the similar productions, BUT they also take you along that splendid, and not travelled by many, road of expanded perception that should be part of our growing up as human beings. Thoroughly enjoyable and educational.

Forget the irritating vignettes, the rest is worth a look
Love Rod Serling stuff and this is no exception. Like TZ there are some duds, as with all anthologies, but the highs more than compensate. I recommend getting The Skelton Benson series companion for full depth.Serling's intros and dialogues wax lyrical, and the cast is spectacular. The numbskull producer who fancied himself as a comic bit player too dragged the series down as is evident in the ridiculous and irritating "comic" vignettes, which I tend to skip. Worth a look? Definitely!! The price for all you get with extras is also fair.

but not as good as I remember
ok, but not as good as I remember. some stories are really good, almost twilight zone quality, some are pretty poor, and the so called comedic 3 or 4 minute sketches are cringeworthy and embarrassing. all-in-all I quite enjoyed watching these 3 seasons after all this time, but night gallery is nowhere near the standard of the superb twilight zone. got this boxed set on dvd as it is not available, and probhably won`t ever be available on bluray, but the picture and sound quality are quite good considering the age of the show.

Fabulous series
This is a great companion to the Twilight Zone series. Great atmosphere and lots of spooky stories to get your teeth into.

.. Great retro TV <<
For anyone liking retro TV from the golden age of TV - then this is for you. The Twilight Zone, One Step Beyond - all those old black & white classics - they all leave you wanting more and more of these old shows. And don't worry too much if it all seems a bit dated in The Night Gallery - after all that is what can always happen in the twilight zone.Great TV from the days of great TV.

Enjoyable 70's tv.....
Not unlike The Twilight Zone there are some duff stories but also some gems and a few that are touching enough to bring a tear to the eye and a lump to the throat....Worth the investment as still very entertaining 70's tv.

It doesn't contain subtitles
Great compilation however, it doesn't contain any subtitles, which nowadays is something basic.

Looks really great for the age of the series....
I really didn't know if the segments from this series would still appeal to my adult mind as they did when I was young and impressionable--I'm very pleased to say that they DO!!! It really is a trip down memory lane to see these sometimes scary, sometimes creepy tales again. The picture quality is amazing for the age of the episodes and presumed lack of interest from the viewing public. Idk if they were restored, or just that the master tapes were kept protected somehow over the years, but they are really pristine, given the age of the show. Great purchase!!!

Great old show
I loved this show when it was on originally and was so glad to be able to get the whole set together. I did also buy the series by season but am glad to be able to have all the shows in one set. Has all the oldies in it, Vincent Price, Joan Crawford, Leonard Nimoy and a lot of very young oldies like Sally Field, Diane Keaton and young directors like Steven Spielberg.
