This POS camshaft the cotter pin is so short that the camshaft phaser sprocket keeps jumping timing because it keeps getting sheared.

These are great camshafts to do a DOD/AFM delete on your 2014-2018 Chevrolet L83 engine. However, look it over very carefully before you try to install it. I'm not sure who is manufacturing camshafts for GM these days but the quality control is poor. I have ordered two of these camshafts so far. One from Amazon and one from a GM dealer. The first one had a dowel pin that was way too short. The dowel pin on these cams should be exposed by about 4mm. The first one had less than 2mm. This caused the cam phaser to slip off the pin and the engine came out of time. The second camshaft had a significant nick in one of the cam journals which made it completely unusable. Had I not looked it over carefully and just installed it, it would have destroyed the cam bearings and ruined the engine. (this is the one I bought from Amazon). Also the shipping packaging is terrible. It came in a cardboard tube with no packing material. Plus the one end of the tube only had packing tape sealing it. I am going to attempt to order this cam one more time. If this one is also defective I'm going to buy a third party camshaft that is not GM/ACDelco and be completely done with GM/ACDelco parts. Melling has just began producing a cam with very similar specs. (pn# MC1429)

I ordered this camshaft and installed it in a 6.2l engine. I didn't read the reviews until after it was too late but one review said to check the camshaft before installing it for defects. Mine had the same issue where the alignment dowel on the end for the timing gear was way too short but I didn't see that when I installed it. Long story short I put the engine back together, turned it over and it got out of time because of that dowel and it bent all 8 intake valves and all 8 pushrods. Luckily there was no damage to the heads or pistons. Spend a little more money and get something after market that isn't junk. Now I have to completely redo the whole job plus spend$500 on new parts and gaskets.
