Superb Customer Service
Let me take a moment to give a real review for anyone on the fence about buying this product or similar. After a prior smart lock (not this one) left me locked out my home in the freezing cold having to decide whether it would be cheaper to pay the locksmith quote of $200 or just break the door or one of my windows---I looked around in depth for my next lock, vowing never to be locked out again. This ULTRALOQ U-Bolt Pro lock is where all of the extensive research and reading of reviews led me. I ordered it primarily for a couple of features that were upgrades to my previous lock--first and foremost the USB where you can charge the lock from outside in the event the battery ever runs out while you're outside of the home. Secondly, I really wanted the auto unlock feature through the app/phone as you approach the door. It was easily to install, and for those who've installed locks before, it's the standard quick installation--nothing complicated or unique. While everything worked well and was easy to set up, I initially had an issue with the auto unlock feature not working as anticipated. (which again, was one of the main reasons I purchased this lock). Let me tell you, this company's customer service is through the roof top tier excellent. Unhappy about my feature not working--I vented and made a post in the community forum on their website, not even asking for anything, just venting. Well, they quickly responded and were suddenly emailing me really wanting to help resolve the issue for me. Ultimately, they sent me a replacement part, which did require uninstalling the previous part to install the new part---but I could appreciate that they were being proactive and checking in on me every step of the way. (and again, the installation was so easy in the first place that it wasn't too involved to replace.) Well let me just say, that did the trick and I am now consistently enjoying arriving to the home where the door has already unlocked for my approach. Great product, with a great team behind it. Initially I was going to give 4 stars for having the snafoo and needing to replace the part, but I think superior customer service to resolve an issue for a customer should be worth all 5 stars as well! (Bizzare things happen with all products sometimes, it's how a manufacturer responds that is remembered most)

Very smart smart-lock!
This is a great lock. The fingerprint reader is a definitely a plus and works for me everytime. Other household users have a little difficulty, but I'm sure it is simply user error or they just don't have good scannable fingerprints. Yes, that is a thing... my mom's fingerprint won't work for anything, even her phone. The BEST feature is the Auto-Unlock. I don't have to do anything and it unlocks as I approach. I have it set to turn the status light on, so that I'm sure it has worked. The ring around the fingerprint reader turns green. I have to add that auto-unlock did not work correctly when we first installed so if I had written this review when I 1st received the smart lock, it would have been much different, however, Customer Service was terrific! They had me try a few things and after a few days - I'm on the East coast, they are the West coast, so time difference - and a firmware update, it works perfectly. The app is very intuitive and easy to use as well. I can unlock 5 ways: * Auto-unlock as I approach the door * Numeric Code - can have multiple for different users. You can also set temporary codes, or schedule based codes * Fingerprint - multiple for different users * App controlled * Old School key I'm very pleased with my purchase. I definitely recommend and would repurchase myself.

Great Upgrade! Quick Install and Works Smoothly
I recently replaced my old deadbolt with this U-bolt Pro digital lock, and the installation process was pleasantly straightforward. It took me about fifteen minutes to remove the original hardware and mount the new lock. The instructions were clear enough that I never felt stuck or unsure of the next step. One thing I appreciated right away was that I didn’t even need to swap out the existing strike plate; the new bolt lined up perfectly, which saved time and effort. Once the lock was physically installed, the setup process was just as smooth. Programming my fingerprint and adding access codes took another five minutes at most. The interface is simple and intuitive, and the lock responded quickly during setup without any hiccups. I tried multiple fingerprints and a handful of codes, and everything registered reliably on the first attempt. The accompanying app was also easy to work with. Downloading it, pairing the lock, and adjusting settings was a breeze, even for someone who doesn’t typically enjoy dealing with smart-home tech. Integrating it into Google Home was just as painless, and the lock has responded consistently to app controls and voice commands since. After using it for a bit, I’m impressed by how solid and convenient the whole system feels. The fingerprint reader is fast, the keypad is responsive, and the hardware seems sturdy enough for everyday use. It’s a nice balance between smart features and dependable functionality. Overall, I’m very happy with this upgrade. It was easy to install, easy to configure, and works exactly the way I hoped it would. If you’re looking for a digital lock that doesn’t require a complicated setup, this one is definitely worth considering.

Rough Start But Very Pleased Now
I originally bought this lock because of a promotion Ultraloq was having but then found out that, because I was one of the first people to order it, I got it at no cost. I'd been seeing their advertisements for quite awhile and was quite intrigued so I was excited to get it installed. The installation was simple. I have installed door locksets before so I had an advantage there but, seriously, all it takes is a screwdriver. The instructions were thorough and there are videos available on the internet as well. Less than 30 minutes and it was installed. I then installed the app (iOS). Connecting the lock to my Wi-Fi was where things started getting difficult. I know it wasn't a distance issue because I have items further away from my router that connect fine but the Ultraloq would connect, disconnect, rinse and repeat. I also had issues with the automatic locking feature and with getting the firmware to update. I contacted Ultraloq support and ended up working with them for months; and that is not an exaggeration. They ended up sending me two new interior lock assemblies and one whole new lock. One of the interior assemblies was DOA but the other items, while they might have fixed one issue, only induced another. I don't know if it was because this was a new product or if it was something else. But kudos to their tech support for always being available and never giving up on their commitment to make it right. Eventually, I ended up with a working lock and I love it. No more worrying about anyone leaving the door to the house unlocked, no worrying if I have a housekey when I'm outside and no worries about the batteries failing because, worse case, I can use the backup key to get in. (Or I can connect a micro-USB power source and get in.) And it tells you when the batteries are low so no excuse for them to ever fail completely. The battery life has been great. This is the primary door we use to go into the house from the garage and it is opened and closed many times a day. This lock uses four AA batteries and they last well over six months. I wish it had a rechargeable battery pack (for environmental reasons) but, at the most, I need to change them twice a year and that's with very heavy use. I primary use the fingerprint feature to open the lock. So easy! And I also have a backup code I can use if for some reason my fingers are too dirty from working outside to be able to use that. There is also the auto unlock feature (app access) that can be enabled that, if you come near with an enrolled phone, automatically opens the lock. I tried that but it seemed to take just a little too long to register that the phone was near and to open the door. But I'm not known for my patience... I should probably try it again but, honestly, the fingerprint option works great for me.. Oh, and you can set different people up with access using a code, fingerprints (It accepts two for every person so if one is unavailable (dirty, bandaged, etc...) you can use another finger.), and app access or any combination thereof. Lots of options depending on the individuals' needs and preferences. I don't know that I would have bought this at full price because I didn't really "need" it. However, if I had school-age kids or a short-term rental, this would be a great solution that obviates the needs for anyone to keep up with a key. And codes can be added through the app remotely so you don't have to be near the lock to do this. Also, it also keeps a history of opening and closing and who did it (based on their code, fingerprint or device they used). Again, not real important to me but, especially for a short-term rental, this could be almost a necessity. So, again, after a lot of blood, sweat and cursing (to myself), I think I ended up with a pretty solid product. )Occasionally, the lock starts notifying me that it auto-locked when it was already locked. But I just take out the batteries and reinsert them and that gets it back on track.) I was impressed that they sent me, at one point, a whole new lock. Stuff happens but it's how you respond when it does that people remember. And they get high marks for how they handled the problems I encountered.

Do NOT buy this lock if you want your door to be locked
Don't buy this lock unless you like to constantly troubleshoot and fuss over what must be a reliable, simple device. It's a lock. It has one essential job: Lock the door. Unfortunately, it doesn't lock reliably, potentially leaving your home wide open to anyone who wants to open the door. Here are the good things: + It looks nice + The app works, albeit with limited features Here is what's not great: - Installation requires your door and jam to be absolutely perfectly aligned. The slightest resistance to the bolt during locking will cause it to fail and give a "lock jammed" error. Your door must close easily to ensure that it lines up perfectly, which can be a problem if you have a door with tight seals. I had to fiddle with the door and jam for hours to get the lock to work reliably. Changing weather or failure to very tightly close the door will lead to the lock failing to close. - The door sensor is an unsightly wart on your jam that is easily snagged when you go in and out of the door. - The app is missing a couple of important features (TBF, there is an additional service that has some of these functions, and it is free for now, but they warn you that it will be subscription in the future): 1. You should be able to assign the same codes and profiles to a group of users on multiple locks. Instead, you have to program each lock for each user. 2. There should be a time/date based lock and unlock feature as well as per-user and group enable/disable functions. - The lock intermittently fails to close automatically. This is a known problem that has no solution (search the manufacturer's forums for confirmation). Yes, you can use the app or manually lock it when in this state, but one of the essential features is to automatically lock. This failure is a show-stopper for me. - The manufacturer's support drags their feet and leads you through an elementary trouble-shooting script: "Did you try to uninstall and reinstall the app?" "log out your Xthings Home App Account and login back" and so on. After you get through all of their steps over many days of ticket submission and reply, they just start over with the same instructions. I am willing to admit individual failures due to bad luck or mistakes, but these problems are on two locks purchased at the same time and installed on different brand new doors, so it's clear that the design is not ready for the real world. I'm also willing to troubleshoot and fiddle with technology to gain some convenience, but with an item like this, one which I am relying on for my family's safety, it just has to work. Unfortunately, because problems like this take time to isolate and troubleshoot, I missed my return window, so I'm stuck with these. Fortunately for you, I suffered through the frustration on your behalf, so you can avoid the same by going with a different product.

Long lasting battery WiFi control and easy setup make this lock a top pick
We installed this smart lock at our front door and I’m impressed with how secure and convenient it has been. My husband did the install himself and found it straightforward with clear instructions. The fingerprint reader works within seconds, the keypad responds well, and the app is intuitive enough for anyone to use. The app is easy to use, simple to understand, and everything is laid out clearly so you never feel lost. Because you get full WiFi access (not just Bluetooth) you can lock or unlock the door remotely, which has been a big plus when we’re away. I also use it for my Airbnb houses and the remote control is extremely helpful for guests. It makes it so easy to give every guest their own personal code and change codes between stays without any stress. Another thing I really value is how well it handles weather. One of my locks is under a small porch roof and the other is fully outside with a short awning, and both have held up perfectly. Rain, heat, sudden temperature changes — the lock has stayed responsive and stable through all of it. No issues with the keypad, no lag, nothing sticking. It has been reliable in every season. One of the features I value most is the battery life. According to the manufacturer the lock uses four AA alkaline batteries and claims up to 6 000 accesses or about 6–12 months of typical use. In our home with regular daily use I change the batteries about every three to four months just to stay ahead — it feels like a safe routine and ensures we never get caught by surprise. Because it has many features (fingerprint, app, WiFi) battery life can vary, so using high quality alkaline batteries really helps. Helpful tip for buyers: make sure you select the WiFi-enabled model, not the Bluetooth-only version. If it’s Bluetooth-only, you won’t be able to use the mobile app for remote access, real-time notifications, or auto-lock/auto-unlock when you’re away. That difference matters. This lock has been reliable for us with keyless entry, multiple unlock options, strong deadbolt security, stable WiFi, and a solid daily performance. The fingerprint ID, anti-peep keypad, and the U-Tec app make the daily use simple and very dependable. If you want a smart deadbolt with remote control, weather stability, good battery performance, and an easy DIY installation, this one has worked great for us.

Replacement Lock Shipped Under Warranty
I own 3 of these locks. Two of them are in one home about 7 feet from each other. From the start, I had connection issues with the two but eventually learned, it was was my Wi-Fi network they didn't like. Be aware that this lock does not like a newer, combined 2.4GHz & 5GHz Wi-Fi network like I had, using an Eero mesh network. I had planned to upgrade my router and once I did and created a 2.4GHz only Wi-Fi network for all my "Internet of Things" devices, their network connections have been solid since. Then one of the two locks started acting very flakey and was in the door between my foyer and the main condo space. It would emit tones at random times and then most recently it seemed to go through batteries fast. Then one evening, it was completely dead and locked me out. So I connected a battery to it via the USB port, thinking no problem. Well, it turned into a potentially very big problem because the lock did not respond to the connected battery. And due to some moving of furniture, the physical key that used to be there for such emergencies, was inside my condo. I was seriously panicking because if the lock truely was dead, I had no way inside other than to have the door forced open and potentially do some major damage. Since I'm on the top of the building on the 27th floor, there is no other way inside than through that door. After about 20 minutes of trying everything I could to get the lock to work, it mysteriously and unexpectedly lit up! I immediately put my thumb on the reader and prayed. And it opened! After all that, I made sure the key was in it's place. I also called U-tec. U-tec support answered and I explained to the representative everything that had happened. She sent me an email to completed with my contact info and proof of purchase and said they will ship me another lock under warranty. I didn't even have to send them the malfunctioning lock. Once it arrived, I installed it and tested everything. It worked as expected and I haven't had a problem since. Kudos to U-tec and their warranty support!

Very good product.
This lock system works great, bought one years ago for our front door. Purchased this one for our garage door entry, works great, not sure why it took us so long to do this. The phone app allows you to keep track of things like battery, and allows you to unlock and lock through your phone when every you need to perform a override. Very good product, and great piece of mind.
