Good Value
I have had these aids for nearly a month now and so far I am very pleased with them. When the order arrived it was short of a part in one aid and I sent an e-mail asking about it and the vendor sent a complete unit with their compliments! My hearing loss is not really bad so i keep the volume level at around 1.2-2 on the volume adjuster and it seems to work well for me. I am still trying to decide whether i should use the medium dome or large as my fit seems to be in between! The smaller one I feel slides in too far and that makes me nervous of doing some damage but the large dome does not seal as well as I would like. I will persevere and see how it goes.I do wipe my ear canal with "comfort ear" (a readily available ear soothing lubricant) on a cotton swab prior to putting the aids in place and I am sure this helps the fit.The only question I have is where I should get new domes for the aids as I am sure they will need replacing in the near future. For your guidance I have found the batteries last about 5 days before replacement which I think is acceptable as they are not expensive ( less the 25 cents each).

Guess I gotta dud :0(
I did a lot of web research before selecting this amplifier. It was either this model of the Otofonix Elite. I considered the LumiHear a safe and not-to-expensive introduction model. My insurance will fully pay for a hearing aid but that's not what I really need. My hearing test suggested that I have 'above average' hearing and they were more than willing to sell me a hearing-aid.The LumiHear arrive via SurePost two days after ordering. I also received 60 Power One size 13 batteries. Everything was nicely packaged without damage. The instructions: The text, although it contained a few errors, was pretty easy to see and comprehend. The pics are so tiny they are basically worthless. However, the pics aren't necessary. Setup was easy and basic common sense (but I read both inserts anyway). In the package: It's a fairly small box with the amplifier, three different sized ear tips, two starter batteries, cleaning tool. cleaning brush, a welcome note from seller and instructions. All items rest in compartmentalized foam.Inserting the battery: Removed the battery from the package using silicone electronic tweezers then removed the air tab and allowed the battery to sit in the open battery door for three minutes. There's a + sign on the housing that identifies the correct way to insert the battery (tab side up).Ear tips: Total of three (big, medium and small). Just gently push one onto the end of the tube extending from the amplifier.On/Off button: Many amplifiers don't have one. It is one of the factors that made this brand appealing. Turned the volume to zero, placed the unit behind my ear and then positioned the ear tip into the ear canal. Turned the unit ON and slowly increased the volume.I've had the unit for 24 hours now. I've replaced the battery, I have adjusted the volume and I have tried the other ear. I have tried it in my house, outside, in the barn, at the convenient store and while driving. I've checked the tube and ear tip (both clean). My ear canal is clean. I tried it without my glasses. I walked to the middle of the cornfield, away from all electronics and power lines. I only hear white noise/static that never varies in volume/intensity. No extraneous sounds are conducted via the amplifier whatsoever. If I place my hand near my ear, I do get feedback.Very disappointed. The static gave me a headache and an earache. Now I'm stuck with 58 batteries (will donate to someone).

It does help as I used it- for only a slight increase in level I sometimes need in one ear.
I purchased the LumiHear unit at the low price that it is because in certain venues I do not hear as well as usual. I wanted to boost in volume to my right ear to know if that would equalize the volume I hear in my right ear, so that my brain could process the correct stereo effect. That experiment has confirmed to me that a slight increase for that ear does my hearing. Due to the much higher price of the product that I will eventually purchase, this was well worth the price. Note that it will take experimentation to get the correct level of input. Just use a very low level. Too high a volume level caused distortion - which is uncomfortable for my ear. I actually use it rarely - just for the venues where needed.

This unit is small and comfortable even for a frail little lady in a nursing home. It didn't bother her oxygen tubes or her eye glasses! I did call customer services to inquire as to battery life. Dr. Recter (not sure if I spelled that right?) actually returned my call himself! He was sincerely concerned with the fit, the way it works (not squealing in her ear) and the batteries. THIS WAS BY FAR - ABOVE AND BEYOND - ANY EXPECTATIONS I had and was very very impressed with the compassion and customer care he offered. My suggestion would be to 'try it' .. it's a good unit, there's no problem if you need to return it and it's affordable!

Product good, battery horrible
Battery died within two days of use. It did work decently well for my Dad till then. Not sure if this item is worth its high cost if batteries will die so soon. π

Works for DOGS!!!
I have a coworker whose dog is losing her hearing. After doing some research online, we discovered that hearing aid technology for a dog is the same as for a human, only the cost is about $3,000-5,000 since a dog would have to get a mold made for their ear. My coworker gave up then, but I decided that at the low cost of this particular hearing aid (along with all the great reviews I read about it), it'd be worth a shot to get it for her dog as a surprise; she's great with my dog, so I wanted to return the favor. If it didn't work, it wouldn't have been hundreds or thousands of dollars. After the quick delivery, she tried it that evening and said her dog perked right up to her old self again when she could recognize her owner's voice that she hadn't heard in a long time. She said it completely changed her dog back to her old self! We actually couldn't believe that it worked. She's going to pick up a dog head wrap in order to keep it on the dog's head. This product will make the remaining years that old dog has left extremely enjoyable. Can't thank you enough! Please consider making something exclusively for dogs - I think there's a huge market for it!
