Sheepskin Lined Leather Martingale Dog Collar 1.75in Wide by 14in - Black

Very nicely made, but ordered size too small

My mutt has a single very thin layer of fur on her body, which reduces to peach fuzz on the underside of her soft-skinned neck, making regular collars brutal for her to wear. She always winds up with bleeding lacerations. So we've ordered these wonderful sheepskin martingale collars since she was a barely grown pup, and they make all the difference in the world. Martingales are much more gentle than a choke collar, but still pull tight to get your dog's attention. With a sheepskin lining, they ensure that there's no scratching or abrasions on your dog's neck.Very high quality leather and stitching. From my previous collar, it seems to last a couple of years before the leather begins to weaken at the point where it forms loops for the metal rings (I do walk my dog in all kinds of weather, from rain to the long dry Southern California summers), and the sheepskin does eventually compact and wear down, making it fit looser on the dog's neck. But that's a couple of hard working years of service, so you get your money's worth. Well worth it for the thin-coated dog.

The craftsmanship on this collar is superb. I purchased it for my German shepherd (88#, 20" neck) and she looks very regal in it. I love the authentic sheepskin as it doesn't grab my dog's hair like fake sheepskin. This collar will last as long as my dog does due to its top quality. I had a minor issue with the first collar I received and the seller made it right immediately. I highly recommend both the collar and the seller. Top notch!

It is surprisingly difficult to fit Martingale collars shaped for use with sight hounds. This solved the problem for me. The 12” is perfect on my relatively large (16 lb) Italian greyhound. I’m very happy with this purchase!

Perfect for our GSH, put an end to his nylon dermatitis. My only complaint would be, that the majority of chrome plating on the chain and loops attached to the collar wore away in less than three months (purchased Oct. 19, 2017 and it is now Dec. 15 2017;) now what is showing through looks like copper or brass, so I am currently worried about a possible allergic reaction to the exposed metal. The leather is high quality though and soft, with nothing to rub on his sensitive skin. I suppose the chain could be replaced, but for the price one would thing that the chain and loops attached to the collar would be high quality stainless steel. I really want to give four stars for the quality of the leather, but with the essential chain lacking so much I give three.

This is the best collar ever. It should be, for the price. But well worth it if you are training your dog to heel and walk properly on a leash. When correcting the dog, or when it is pulling like a sled dog, this keeps your doggy’s trachea from being damaged. Slips on and off easily, so don’t pick up dog improperly. I love it. My dog heels and walks beautifully by my side.
