Great little extractor if you are working in an enclosed space
As a hobby welder, machinist and general DIYer with limited time for my passions during the day, finding a versatile air filtration system that allows me to work in my garage at night without disturbing others was paramount. My search led me to the FumeClear FC-2002A, a fume extractor that promised to meet my specific needs. In this review, I'll share my findings based on tests conducted on the noise level, suction power/filtration, and overall ease of use.Noise Level:The FumeClear FC-2002A performed admirably in terms of noise levels. At its lowest speed, the extractor registered approximately 65 decibels, which allowed for normal conversations without the need to raise your voice. At maximum speed, the noise level reached around 85 decibels, while it is acceptable in a workshop environment you wont be able to have a conversation without next to the extractor without speaking louderSuction Power / Filtration:To test the suction power and filtration capabilities of the FumeClear FC-2002A, I pushed it to the limit by using it during welding sessions. While it's important to note that this extractor isn't specifically designed for heavy-duty welding tasks, it proved surprisingly effective in keeping my garage smoke-free during small welding jobs and prototype tack welding. The air quality meter initially showed high readings due to the intense welding, but as I continued using the extractor after welding, the readings significantly decreased. For more intensive welding tasks, a dedicated welding fume extractor will still be necessary, but the FumeClear FC-2002A can be a reliable solution if you are just tacking or prototypingWhen used during machining on a lathe, the FumeClear FC-2002A demonstrated its efficiency in capturing most, if not all, of the cutting oil smoke when positioned within 6 inches of the work. The smaller working envelope of the lathe made it easier for the extractor to capture the fumes and smoke. On a laser engraver within an enclosure the extractor performed great! Medium setting is all thats needed for engraving but I would turn it up to max if you are doing any sort of wood cutting.General Ease of Use:The FumeClear FC-2002A is quite user-friendliness, the locking casters provided smooth movement around the shop while ensuring stability during use. The sturdy gooseneck provides reliable positioning, although a slightly longer gooseneck would be beneficial, particularly when using the extractor at workbench height. The included remote control is convenient, allowing one-handed operation; however, it requires line-of-sight to the front panel as it uses infrared technology. The timing and lock button doesnt seems to do anything tho.Pros:- Impressive suction power at max speed, capable of handling machining and light MIG welding tasks.- Relatively quiet operation at low speed, enabling undisturbed work in a workshop setting.- Sturdy gooseneck ensures precise positioning of the extractor during use.- Lockable casters offer effortless mobility and stability in the workshop.- Extra filters are a bonus.Cons:- The noise level at maximum speed might be bothersome for some users.- The gooseneck could be longer, especially when used at workbench height- Kinda pricey for budget-conscious buyersIn conclusion, the FumeClear FC-2002A is a powerful and efficient fume extractor that suited my needs. While it may not replace a dedicated welding fume extractors for heavy welding tasks, it excels in capturing smoke and particles during lighter welding and machining activities. Its convenience, mobility, and filtration capabilities make it a valuable addition, albeit at a higher price point.

Good suction and filtering
Works like a charm Should have bought one years ago for soldering. With the long duct I was able to mount the blower under the work bench. The remote is a nice feature. Running it on the lowest 2 settings is plenty of suction to pull the solder smoke away.

REALLY SUCKS! NO FUMES!
The media could not be loaded. I was considering getting rid of my engraver because of the fumes, This works so good that it now produces a sweet smell I am concluding it is because of the charcoal filter. This is well worth it and I highly recommend it. It is loud but I can run it at a lower speed and still get great results.Fast delivery too.

Great for a hobbiest and professional
I have been using the Fumeclear for about a few months now, and I am very impressed with it. I am a professional hobbiest and I use this fume extractor for a variety of tasks particularly laser cutting. It has a very powerful suction, which is important for removing harmful fumes and smoke quickly and efficiently. It also has a 3-stage filtration system, which removes 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. This means that I can be confident that I am breathing clean air while I am working. It's also very quiet, which is important to me because I often work in a small workshop. The noise level is under 55dB, which is comparable to a normal conversation. The unit also comes with a variety of mounting options, so I can position it exactly where I need it.

Excellent quality extractor
The Fumeclear FC-2002A fume extractor is a well-built extractor with good suction. The listing seems to push low-noise and although I did not find it overly loud, there is noise from the large fan used to create the draw necessary to keep the fumes clear. The noise level was acceptable and somewhat expected for a device like this. We set this up at a soldering station to remove the fumes and make for a safer work area. The Fumeclear does a good job of clearing the air and I like the fact that it has an alarm to let you know if there is blockage. The device is not too heavy, but the wheels make it easier to move into place and the hose is sufficiently rigid that you can move the nozzle and it stays where you put it. I have not needed to order them yet and am not impacting the rating of this product, but I do find the replacement filters to be overpriced for this device.
