How long is the flex please? Does the thermostat cut out before your room is comfortably warm?

the flex is quite short, 0.5 meter (18"). The stat cuts out if you set the heat on a lower setting, but if you set it to full/ high, then my one has yet to cut out. The room gets toasty and you j=have to reach down and turn the heater off.Overall, this is a really good, low cost heater.

Does this heater have any kind of handle or 'easy hold'?

No it does not. It does have two heat positions which are lay flat or upright.
