Why isnt the lighter working when touching the charcoal? Second one I've bought and still doesnt work

Do you have working batteries stalled and the switch in ON position? You have to touch the lighter to the red dot on the charcoal - it only works on this spot on the fake charcoal insert.

The instructions don't say to put batteries in the fire starter, only the charcoal. Can anyone respond to if I need to put batteries in the lighter?

No batteries needed in fire starter. When the starter touches the charcoal, it "ignites!" There is a switch under the charcoal that must be in the on position for this to occur.

where can we get replacement lighter ours doesnt work any more put new batts in and still nothing
