We bought this for our son’s apartment and it has been such a great upgrade. It’s one of those appliances that just makes life easier. Having the air fryer, microwave, and everything else in one unit is perfect for a smaller space. It saves room but still does everything he needs. He loves it. He uses it way more than we expected, whether it’s heating something up quickly or actually cooking a full meal. The air fryer feature is a big win. Food comes out crispy and tastes so much better than a regular microwave. It also looks really nice on the counter. Clean, modern, and not bulky or awkward. It feels like a step up from the typical basic appliances you throw in an apartment. If you’re setting up a dorm or apartment, this is such a smart buy. It’s practical, easy to use, and feels like a real upgrade.

This 900w 2.45GHz transmitter shows 903w of power on my meter, well within spec. The spectral purity (3rd order harmonics) are well within FCC limits. The controls offer a complete selections of operation cycles and but the minimal display only provides timing information, nothing about power output or standing wave ratios. The output of the transmitter is directed at a small Faraday cage, which is well shielded for the expected operating frequency. Do note that if electrically conductive items are placed in the cage during RF excitation some arcing may occur. Organic objects with water content will experience elevated temperature under prolonged operation. Some of the lab techs have used this phenomena to playfully reheat cold coffee and one even using it to explosively expand solid corn kernels. For the price, the ML-EM09PA(SS) microwave exciter, provides a decent value if you have a lab situation where you need a medium RF output at this frequency sent into a small Faraday cage. The choice of 2.45 GHz is interesting since it produces an electromagnetic field constantly flips polar water molecules, creating intense intermolecular friction that produces heat. It would be nice if Toshiba made other other frequencies available so that one could avoid this complication. But if one carefully selects their samples, this model provides a workable solution at a good price.

So this is the first microwave I’ve purchased that has the child proof lock now required and I was really worried it was going to be aggravating and difficult, but no. It’s super simple and doesn’t even take any extra thought. The microwave looked really small to me but it isn’t at all. I can cook anything in it that I could cook in my previous much larger microwave and the plate inside is large. Also, on my previous microwave the buttons on the outside were very difficult to see because they were really dull in color, but this one has bold bright colors easy to see even in the dark. There is nothing complicated about this oven, but it’s compact and it cooks evenly. I haven’t had it long but if it holds up over a couple of years, it will be perfect.

Works really well. Food is heated evenly. This is a good smaller sized microwave. I would recommend, however the microwave is loud.

I had a Panasonic inverter, lasted only 3 yrs, extremely expensive. This one is great, pretty quiet. Fast, and easy to use. Air fryer is awesome. Combo also for frozen foods. Can’t go wrong with. Especially the price, very affordable. The air fryer works great. I like the different settings. Used the broiler on salmon, is very even browned and fast. Can’t go wrong with this one. I’ll be on later for update for longevity. Only had this one a few months ago.

This is just what I wanted! Great and big enough for everything I do. Such power! Well packed and fast 1 day FREE delivery. My last microwave combo was a Frigidaire and it went bad less than 1 year. Very bad! Never heard such a racket in the back control unit were not allowed to open. Was so loud in all 3 modes. Their customer service was non existent! After over a week I was still needing more proof that I bought it from Walmart that is all on their records. Anyways done with anything Frigidaire makes. Also Walmart will not do anything after 90 days. Nothing so hit a dead end. Took the loss and moved on. This Toshiba I now have is so well made and way easier to use than the videos showed. Takes up the same room as the one it replaced. Love the air fryer for many things. The microwave was also needed. This is one well made machine! Such a pain without having even a microwave for the week I spent trying to get customer service to do something with my warranty.

I couldn’t be happier with my TOSHIBA EM131A5C-BS Countertop Microwave Oven! After a year of daily use, it has completely exceeded my expectations. Updated 3/20/26 Another person atToshiba contacted me in March regarding this issue. I had given up after the runaround and bought another microwave. The new email stated they would take care of the issue. They asked for some of the repeat information, and I sent it, not believing it would be helpful. Within a few days, they notified me that they were sending me a new microwave. I received the replacement microwave this week. I've used it one time, and it works great. My other one worked great for 10 months hopefully this one lasts longer. I was asked to update my review since a replacement was sent to me. It was a lot to get a replacement, and I had already purchased a new microwave from a different brand. It took 2 months for this issue to get taken care of. Guess I'll update this review if the microwave doesn't work long. Previous review I purchased this microwave in 2025 after mine quit working. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before deciding on this one. This past weekend, I was reheating carrots in the microwave and must have heard a noise. The microwave had been running less than 30 seconds, so I knew they weren't hot. I continued in the kitchen and caught a flash out of the corner of my eye. A few seconds later, a second flash. This time I watched the microwave and saw flames shooting out the side of the inside of the microwave. I immediately shut it off and unplugged it. Two carrots were black from where the flames was hitting it. They were still cold from the refrigerator, so they hadn't been in there long. I contacted Toshiba because it's not even a year old. I received an email on Monday, which impressed me with their quick response. They asked for my address, a picture of the model number, and a copy of my receipt. I immediately responded. I received an email on Tuesday, with a list of 8 questions. I immediately responded. I received an email on Wednesday, with a request for more pictures. I immediately responded. I received an email on Thursday with a new request. I spent two hours on Thursday working on their new request. At this point, it feels like a game from them with a new request every day. Plus, the one email a day. I've ordered a new microwave, from a different brand. I would never buy from this company again and definitely do not recommend it.

I was going through my past orders and didn't realize I hadn't reviewed this yet, which is crazy because I feel like evangelizing about it, I love it that much. I've had this oven for 3 years now, and I couldn't possibly be happier with it. It functions well, it's really easy to use and clean, and best of all NO BEEPING. The silent operation of this oven is its best feature and the primary reason I ordered it. I know most people are probably happy to operate it with the beeping sounds, but if having the option to silence all beeping sounds is as essential to you as it was to me then this is your oven. Once in awhile when the power goes out I'll have to reset the silent mode when I reset the clock, but other than that I never hear any beeping from it whatsoever. Not when the buttons are pressed, not when the cooking cycle is done. I've seen some reviews saying it's loud when cooking, but it's no louder than any other microwave - I don't know what these people are talking about. All microwaves make some noise when cooking.
