Unfortunately, we got it for an activity and when it arrived, it stayed at 230 degrees fahrenheit. The quality looked ok, so we had high hopes when we put it in cold water. we saw the tempature go down... and whoop-de-doo! it went down 10 degrees. very inaccurate. Don't buy.

We bought this to use for science experiments with our grandson. It worked great and was easy to read. Just be careful as it is glass!

Imagine you're a kid hoped up on sugar-cubes in a science class. (I mean, what kid won't sneak some sugar cubes in between measurements?) You put your thermometer in the first liquid, and what does it do? NOT WORK. That's what. You try other liquids. The air. A boiling cup of water. NOTHING. So...when an adult is trying to get a back-up thermometer, you use said, nonfunctional thermometer as a drumstick. Because you're a kid. Let's just pray the "spirit" filling they mention (way to be vague and make us all really nervous) won't turn said kid into an actual spirit. Praying this is NON-TOXIC. And if it hadn't become the victim of an over-sugared kid, the thermometer definitely would have been returned. Failure rate of these thermometers? Based on the reviews, more than half? Garbage. Literal garbage.

This one worked the last one we ordered didn't.

Bought 2. Both arrived poorly packaged with separated spirit columns. Tried hot oil/freezing to reunite without success. The scale on the two is very different but the glass appears to be identical. Even if I could have repaired them, they could not be accurate due to different scales. And ITEM IS NOT RETURNABLE. This is in the listing now that I reread after having an issue, but this is something I have not encountered on Amazon before. Save your money. Don’t buy this thermometer.

Easy for our kids to perform at home experiments

Bought 2 of these and will not give correct temp. Red lines will not even move. Bad purchase!

There’s a gap of red liquid on both thermometers that I bought and are not functioning, come to find out that the return window has closed. How inconvenient! I received the items like this and thought it was resolve itself, it hasn’t.
