Q: Can you make just one cup of coffee

Yes , the French press is small. It will make a singular large cup of coffee or maybe two small cups. If you plan on drinking multiple cups or serve more than one person I suggest getting a larger French press. I bought this one because my previous maker was to large for my needs.

Q: Is it electricity run coffee maker?

No electricity. This is just a manually operated French Press. Add coffee grounds, add boiling water, place the plunger screen on top the hot water wait approximately 4 minutes, press plunger down, pour hot coffee into a mug.
