Beautiful and sturdy, well worth the money
We ordered three of these to make a library wall in a high-traffic area of our home and are very happy with how they look! Assembly did take a while -- probably about two hours for my husband and I to put each one together, from opening the box to adjusting the cabinet doors. The adjustable doors were a pain, but I appreciate being able to really fine tune them and make them line up just right, which I did eventually accomplish. The assembly instructions were detailed and helpful and we felt confident each step of the way. Everything was square, with no gaps or problems anywhere. We had a few cracked boards and dented corners on some of the shelves and trim pieces, but we ordered replacement pieces directly from Sauder easily. I do recommend checking everything carefully before beginning assembly so you don't feel like you have to stop halfway through and wait a week for a replacement piece to arrive if it's part of the main frame. But, now that they're all assembled, I expect these bookcases will hold up well for years to come!

Great quality, great price.
I shopped forever online to find shelving units that we could use against an entire wall in our basement for storage. We priced building vs buying coupled with the fact that I needed them at least 15 inches deep. I wasn't even too concerned about looks because we were going to box them in and hang curtains if necessary. I was so pleased when I finally found these! They fit 20x15 containers for holding my children's toys and other items and the shelves are very configurable. I purchased 4 shelving units and 1 with the doors for a library look... They fit together well and look fantastic! They are also very sturdy, no concerns whatsoever about them toppling over if my children happen to try to climb! (Although we secured them to the wall anyway...) I was a little concerned about the antique white, but they are a beautiful creamy color, and the distressed look of the wood will hide any scratches well. I would certainly recommend these to anyone!

Great for what it is.
Knowing that this is particle board (not MDF), it is generally as expected but of a better quality in it's class. Instructions are clear, parts clearly marked. Connection pieces line up together pretty well and some moveable parts are expected to be adjusted (drawer and doors) and accommodation is made for that. The main box construction goes together tightly but there are some small gaps between the more decorative front pieces if you can live with that. The finish looks pretty nice and for just general use it's nice. I don'rtexpect that if it was moved around a lot the particle board would hold forever but that's normal. It will take several hours to complete construction, and your delivery driver will complain of the weight: it is HEAVY.

Exactly what I needed.
I purchased three of these. They are quite heavy, as noted above 118 lb each, and I don't have the wingspan to handle the larger side pieces, nor the strength necessary to lift the assembled unit on its side or front or back or whatever is necessary to put it together. Accordingly, I hired a friend who is former contractor to handle the assembly. It took him three hours to do each unit. He went carefully, so as not to damage. I did attempt to put one of them together, but gave up rather quickly on reading the instructions. My friend tells me the instructions are clear if read several times before attempting assembly. There was not a mark scratch, dent, chip or anything on any one of these. They arrived in perfect condition. One of them had a banged-up box on one corner, and I opened it with some trepidation, but it was fine inside. They look terrific and are exactly what I needed. I reduced the number of stars for assembly because I really feel these require either some degree of professionalism or substantially more patience and strength than I possess. I have a house full of this kind of furniture, all of which I put together myself. These were a bit more than I wanted to handle just because of the size and weight. (I'm 5'4".) As the description notes, these have a distressed finish. This isn't too obvious on the antique cream color that I ordered. When standing right in front of it it's fairly obvious, but from across the room not so much. That's great as far as I'm concerned. But if you want a really distressed finish, you may have to get out the axe and chains and add some extra detail!๐ Also, I have a relatively small living room, and these don't take over the room. I ordered these on September 29th, and the price was $227. They are at the moment shown as $181. So if you are thinking about these, grab them now and save yourself a few bucks.

Surprised by the Quality!
We have a mix of high end and press wood furniture like this bookcase. We ordered 2 bookcases and one unit with the cabinet on bottom. The 2 bookcases arrived in great condition, packaged very well for shipping. FYI these are extremely heavy boxes so you'll need 2 people to move them. My husband assembled both last night and they are by far the highest quality press wood furniture we've ever put together. The detail in these pieces is extremely NICE. Trim, turned legs, thick shelves. They are shorter than I expected, but very pretty and very sturdy. I replaced a $2500 piece from Ballard Designs where the shelves buckled by the weight of books. These shelves are shorter and twice as thick...they will hold a lot of weight and all my books! The center piece with cabinet arrived with the box torn open and damaged. For some reason that box was not packaged as well as the bookcases. We requested a return and are getting a new one. The return process was very easy as with the weight we had to schedule a UPS pick up. Once the full set is put together I'll post pictures.

This line of Vanilla Cream furniture is ALL VERY heavy. If you don't have a good UPS/Fed Ex man (mine used both on my new furniture), don't have it shipped home. The delivery guy can't lift it alone, which makes it impossible to get safely to the porch. It needs two separate boxes That being said, the instructions to put this together are HORRIBLE! The hardware is also all mixed in one big bag, not separated and labeled, so it's difficult to figure out exactly which one of the ten different sizes of screws the instructions are talking about. This line of furniture is also NOT easy to put together. If you're not the best at puzzles, you will need help, for sure. But, it is pretty once it's up. VERY PRETTY. It does NOT look cheap, nor does it feel cheap. Worth the money, for sure.

Nice Piece for the Price
I really like this piece and that the company is really wonderful to deal with regarding damaged pieces. The two long side pieces were broken in shipping. There was some other damage in the finish on some of the edges, but it wasn't worth waiting for replacements. Mostly the instructions were quite good with a few exceptions. Assembly issues I had: There are two pieces, shelf molding M36. Then two identical pieces are installed and used differently. I found the directions/drawings lacking on the second one installed. The orientation was unclear. Eventually I realized it didn't matter. It would have been nice if that was stated. The hinges I received were slightly different than the hinges illustrated. I had to play with them a long time to get them fully extended before being able to install them. I had to loosen the screw in the middle, not end, to extend them. Once I worked it out they web on relatively easily and required no adjustments. I suspect really taking the time to square it up when installing the backing really paid off here. The drawer construction looked complicated, but went together easily. I found it took several tries to get the drawer in its slot, but again, it eventually went in and lined up perfectly requiring no adjustments. I'm an older woman with a number of physical issues and I was able to construct and put it in place myself. I did it over several days. I think an able bodied adult could do it in several hours.

Look great once assembled
We purchased two of these bookcases in off white after reading many other reviews they are very sturdy for the money but were not very easy to put together in fact it took my husband who is a carpenter two days to do them both. They are extremely heavy so the drop off at the door option is only good if you are good and strong to even push or pull them inside. Ours arrived with one box partially torn open but no parts were missing only a couple of the shelves were damaged from the factory not in the shipping or delivery so the inspection process prior to shipping leaves something to be desired but upon notice the new shelves were shipping out to us very quickly and we were not asked to bother to return the damaged ones which saved us a lot of trouble not having to pack them up and ship back - instead we were prepared to send photographs of the damage and even that was not required so the customer service was great! In the end they are serving the purpose we needed them for and look good too. I would still recommend them to anyone needed this type of bookcase shelving because the pricing compared to others like them is quite good even though the price went up $20.00 per bookcase in the one day it took me to decide to order them.

Sauder Harbor Bookcase
I first tried to buy this item direct from the vendor in Vancouver. They cautioned me about the added costs. Contacted Amazon, they were able to manage the whole transaction with finesse and at a cost about $70 Cdn less. Product is of great quality. Delivery was about one week sooner than forecast. FedEx guy was amazing... delivered 128 pound package right into the bedroom for temporary storage. Assembly: Another story. It took me about five hours, in part because I read the instructions very carefully and in part because not all parts were numbered, so much thinking through was required. Bottom line; no errors and the assembled product is beautiful and sturdy. Would highly recommend.

Instruction booklet easy to follow
Arrived on time. Instruction booklet easy to follow. Hardware was easy to work with and there was a website that they provided with video instructions. It looks fabulous, sturdy and plenty of room for displays and storage. Love it and would recommend it to friends.

Looks Nice - Very Solid - Easy To Assemble
We're very happy with this library. It's a nice addition to our home office. Great value for money spent. The assembly was a breeze as long as you take your time.

I love it!
Great product, thanks Sauder! It does take a little while to put together but the end result makes it worth it. The unit is heavy so put it together where you want to put it.
