Q: How does the stick lock into the opening? It appears loose am i missing something?

I didn't like this purchase. I shove 3 sticks in there to keep it upright. It makes a huge mess. Does NOT. contain the ashes no matter what I do

Q: In which direction it must be kept ?

I honestly don't know. I have mine opposite of how it's shown in the pic

Q: What am i doing wrong?still n't get the incense to backflow. tried several different cones. return date is soon. so need to know what i'm doing wrong.

Make sure the holes match up, and first light the cone and wait till you see smoke from the bottom of your cone, and second make sure you have backflow cones ok
