Mini J1772 EVs Adapter, Tesla to J1772 Charging Adapter 48A/250V Max, Compatible for All J1772 EVs with Tesla High Powered Connectors, Destination Chargers, and Mobile Connectors (Orange)

My partner has a Tesla and I have a Hyundai Ioniq 5. This charger solved the (admittedly small) problem of swapping EV charging cords each time we would charge one of the EVs at home.Using this charger with the IKTS adapter and a Tesla charging cable required a small, simple "hack," which may (or may not) apply to other EVs with the old (J-1772) charging connector. With commercial chargers, I would simply connect to the car and the Ioniq would confirm by announcing "charging started." Not so with a "cold" connection using the IKITS Adapter. The first time I plugged the Tesla charging cord with the IKITS adapter into car, the Ionic responded by proclaiming "charging not successful." However, I subsequently learned from other reviews and also a conversation with the electrician who installed my home charging unit that I have to turn my car on to successful charge it with the converter. Once the charging starts, I was able to turn the car off. It all seems a but odd, but it works. And yes, it takes a few extra steps, which are best is a very minor inconvenience.I like the heft of the IKITS adapter: it feels like a solid product. And the orange color gives it a distinctive look - not just another black attachment. Also, the carrying bag/cover is a nice touch, which should help prevent dust and dirt from getting into the charging device and impeding functionality. Overall initial assessment: Recommended.NOTE: Over time the J-1772 connector on my Hyundai and most other non-Tesla vehicles will phase out, as most EV manufacturers have announced plans to migrate future EV production to the Tesla connector standard ("NACS") over the next two-three years.

Update: IKITS is graciously replacing the charger. This is much appreciated!This adapter was stubbornly stuck on the Tesla charger after being left on for a few weeks. I noticed a little corrosion on the pins when I finally removed it. Then when I put it back on to charge again, I found it was impossible to remove. I put it in clamps and pulled hard with both hands - over 100 lbs of force - still stuck. I put the latch in "lock" and "open" positions - still no luck. I also tried both metric and allen keys to disassemble the product, and none of mine fit, so I expect I will have to carefully cut it to pieces, hopefully not damaging the Tesla charger in the process.I tried to get customer support from Amazon - the chat bot turned me away. It was only after making a phone call and persisting through the automated replies ("agent.... agent..... agent") that I got an agent who showed me how to contact the manufactrurer directly.I'm upgrading this to 3 stars because of the manufacturer's prompt and helpful response to the problem.

Used this adapter on my son in laws Tessla charger to charge my volvo for a couple of weeks. went on and worked fine but the unluck feature will not unlock from the Tessla charger. This adapter is now stuck on the Tessla home charger with no support and no contact info for the company. I have googled everything. I need to remove this adapter has anyone else had this problem??? Has anyone found contact information for IKITS direct. BUYER BEWARE

I got this adapter so that I would not have to switch out cords every time between my roommate. This adapter works great. Its small, solid, easy to store in your car for on the go travel. This adapter connects easily and doesn't feel like it would get stuck or any pieces will break off. I haven't noticed any decline in charging speed which is a plus.

As a member of Amazon Vine program I got this item gratis in return for a truthful review. I twice tried to use this adaptor without success. The first time I tried it on an EVGO branded charger in Rockville MD. It did not work, but this particular charger was most likely the problem. The charger had several different charging cord options and none of them worked. The second time I tried it was at a charger marked Tesla only. The adaptor fit my Kia Niro EV, but did not work. I have since researched it and see that I might be able download a Tesla app and then use a "Tesla Only" supercharger. There are none of these in my town. If I come across one in my travels I will try again and update this review.I would note that the item seems well made. It came with no instructions, so I had to search the web for info about using 'Tesla only' chargers.

I was a bit scared leaving my hybrid charging at a tesla charger as it kept glitching. My husband and I had to fumble with it for a few minutes and even so it kept giving charging errors. Didn’t really charge my car but at least we had a parking spot …
