I went through the same thing with another seller on amazon seller. They usually sell legitimate nikons but they are imported from the Asian market. When you purchased nikon from an unauthorized US dealer NikonUS will not touch the product. It is considered "gray market" and voids everything. For piece of mind buy from a registered dealer. If price is an issue wait for a sale from Nikon. Even if you pay full price you will end up with a great camera that is genuine and comes with a warranty.

I purchased from Amazon direct. They’re on the Nikon USA dealer list. As of February 2021 they were the only entity that would provide me a shipment date, That also includes the major dealer in the New York area. Mine arrived as planned on time, no problems with shipment occurred.
