Works for wide range of applications
Installed on 1971 Chevelle project car. 350 bored .030, Holley 650, aluminum heads, cammed, 3 inch exhaust, high rise intake….setup with a fuel pressure regulator set to 6psi. Runs great without issue.

Might just be a bad one
I have had this pump four 1 month 2 days first three weeks was starting great easy starting held pressure when not running. Now hard starting won't hold pressure. the check valves have failed. as soon as it stops running all the fuel goes back to the tank. I can see it through the clear fuel filter

I have a "67 Camaro 350 and pulling into garage it stopped running tried starting a couple times and looked at the fuel filter no fuel in it . So after searching I bought this Carter Fuel pump after receiving it I noticed the ports did not line up right . So I ended up clocking it a good sight on YouTube to see what this means and how to do this is -- Muscle Car Solutions-- . After re-clocking the pump and installing the it and everything else I had to re-assemble-- cranked and pumped the throttle and it started right up good pressure . Good too go !!!!! 11/19/25

Great SBC performance fuel pump.
Great pump, makes good consistent fuel pressure on my 400hp 350 chev. And for anyone interested in this pump it takes 1/4" NPT fittings on the inlet and outlet.

Used for rebuild parts
I actually used the internal parts to rebuild the old pump on my OMC stern drive engine. It was cheaper than the rebuild kit (not available) or the proper pump (also not available). Everything fit perfectly. There are many configurations of the inlet and outlet ports and with or without the case vent tube for marine use. Unlike older pumps, the pin for the operating lever is not in a drilled hole. There is just a groove in the casting and the pin is staked in. Note, this is a genuine Carter pump.

Garbage
Installed on GM 350 ZZ4. Will not produce more than 3lbs of pressure, or hold pressure from back flowing. Cannot return because option ran out a few days ago. DO NOT BUY

Carter M4891 Mechanical Fuel Pump (SBC)
Use this pump on both my 73 Nova (406 SBC) & 74 Olds Omega (355 SBC) ... they work very well with my setups !!!
