Silicone Ear Model (Pair) for Acupuncture - Leonidov

Great set of ear models - I'm actually going to use them for recording binauraly! Well- made and accurate scale. I'm not sure if they are actual ear castings but they have enough detail for my purposes. Made from a fairly stiff silisone rubber material with some flexibility and cast onto an oval base of the sam material about 8mm thick.

These have been used with microphone capsules fixed in to the side of a polystyrene head. Together they form a Binaural microphone, it works very well and the ears make a large difference to the accuracy of the recordings. Easy to work with and modify, though a little small compared to adult ears.

Product isn’t flesh coloured like advertised, the anatomy of the ear isn’t detailed enough for what advertised purchase and when item was received the item was damaged. (Tear near the lobe, see picture).

I was disappointed with this product. The ears are not equal. The right ear is just a drum hole where the xavum conchas should be so there is no space to needle. The left one isn't as bad as the right one. Both ears do not show some of the anatomies at all, such as the triangular fossa or the cymba concha. Very poor ear model for acupuncture practising. I should have known better due to the price but they looked better in the picture on Amazon than when they arrived.

Following the advice from a fellow who bought these for the exact same purpose. If your a sound designer/engineer, these will make a great substitue for replicating a the HRTF for binural recordings.Plus you can chew them when your bored.........
