Pump broken upon arrival.
I unpacked the product and filled it with water and plugged it in. I powered it on and the lights immediately turned on and worked on all settings, the light by the pump button was on, and the pump was plugged in but it was not working no matter what I did, I have 2 units so I tested it with the other pump to double check and sure enough the new pump was broken. This is the second time I have bought this uruq 12 pod garden, and while the first one has been working, I can hear the pump making more noise and struggling to work as flawlessly as before even after cleaning it, so it seems these pumps may be a MAJOR weak point of these units and I expect the other one to fail shortlyโฆ.. Without the pump they are nothing more than a glorified plant holder. The light measures from the counter not where the plants grow, it also is 17 inches not 21 so be cautious!! I really like the product but 1 unit being broken upon arrival and 1 unit showing similar signs of failure after only a month makes me think there is a serious flaw with the pumps. I have emailed support and heard nothing back. EDIT: The seller reached out after emailing them, and leaving the review. They provided a full refund for the broken product. Although the product was broken upon delivery the company made it right as best as they could. BE PATIENT WITH THEM if you have any issues. They will resolve it, but the process itself did take about 5 days so just be patient and they will be sure to take care of you in an acceptable manner.

You need to know basics about growing hydroponically
I bought an off-brand hydroponics kit back in 6/2021, grew about 3 cycles & put it away for 1 to 1-1/2 years until las week. Pulled it out & pump isn't working, so bought this & got it this morning. Took inserts with seeds out & moved to the new unit. You need to know some basics to succeed: 1. pH OF WATER: You really must test the pH of the water before planting, which should be 5.5-6.5 for lettuce, herbs, etc. I try to keep it near 6.0 generally. You need a pH meter kit to do this that has solutions to mix with water to calibrate it. Tap water here in Colorado & bottled water like El Dorado and Arrowhead usually test 7.5-8.5. I use General Hydroponics pH up & pH down to adjust. To adjust your water, just add 1/8 tsp at a time of Up or Down and retest, etc. until you reach near 6.0. This pH adjustment is important when growing hydroponically. Check the required pH for growing because certain plants grow best with a more acidic or alkaline environment. Everything I've grown before & now are around 6.0 pH. 2. HYDROPONIC FERTILIZER: I bought a 3-bottle kit of General Hydroponics hydroponic fertilizer (organic) after using what came with my 1st kit. Very easy to use & they have charts on what mixture for each stage of growth. The mixture changes from seedling to green growth to fruiting. The solutions don't go bad & they have worked fabulously for me. 3. NO TALL & SHORT PLANTS TOGETHER: If you try to grow tall plants (peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers) with low-growing plants (lettuce, herbs like thyme/oregano), the tall plants will kill off the low-growing plants as they mature, so think ahead. My jalapeno peppers & tomatoes killed off all my lettuce & herbs the 1st time. 4. TALL PLANTS NEED PRUNING: If you grow tall-growing plants like peppers & tomatoes, you will have to constantly prune to keep the growth manageable & to get flowers & fruiting. 5. POLLINATION: Certain plants have to be pollinated or cross-pollinated by hand, so do your research. You can do this with a paintbrush or even with your finger (called tickling the flower). I had many flowers on my jalapeno plant that never fruited. I did actually get some cherry tomatoes, but these tomatoes would normally grow to 4-5', so it was a chore of pruning & pollinating flowers to get just a few tomatoes at the time. If you don't do this, you will get flowers & no fruit at all. Plants like tomatillos need 2 different plants to cross-pollinate (male & female). 6. OTHER GENERAL: I don't soak seeds generally. Certain harder seeds can benefit from soaking. As well, what temperature certain plants grow well at can vary & you need to keep this in mind. Leave the caps on growing seeds until you can see at least 2 leaves & a bit of height (like in my picture); leaves reach top of dome over them. I planted these seeds last week in the old unit where pump wasn't working. On the left, I have 5-6 loose leaf lettuce plants. On the right, I believe it is arugula showing. The thyme, oregano, marjoram & spinach all have small sprouts coming up under the caps. Apparently I have one I'm not sure of at this moment, but I will know when it comes up, and 1 empty slot. 7. PUMP: I will edit the review if something happens with the pump. It is very quiet compared to my other one. I can feel the vibration when I put my hands on the side, but I don't see moving water when I look into the water. Without a working pump, the plants will die before maturing. 8. CLEANING: Keep an eye on the water. As plants mature, the roots will be too long & tangled to safely take out individually. Keep an eye out for a lot of algae (greenish), too much sliminess, etc. Brownish color doesn't necessarily mean you need to change water. I think I had to change water once in the first 3 growing cycles I did. You will have to take the whole top off, dump the water, clean out base, & then fill with new pH adjusted water with new fertilizer, then put base with plants back on. ALWAYS thoroughly clean and sanitize the base & plastic inserts between growing cycles (mild soap & warm water should be fine, but check your instructions). I hope this helps some newbies as I often see newbies leaving comments that nothing grew or died halfway. Measuring the pH is really important because tap & most bottled water is too alkaline. Invest in a pH meter & calibration kit. I just put the seeds in, fill up the water, & let it go. This is my 4th cycle of growing and you can see the seeds are all coming up. I may add pix after the plants start to mature more. Even though my last off-brand hydroponic system had 14- and 16-hour cycles, it only cycled 14 hours and everything was fine. As well, the timer didn't work well & time on/off would increase about 15-20 minutes probably every week; I just reset it if I was up early enough to turn it off/on again. So cheap, yes, but it worked just fine overall.

Doesnโt last even 2 yearsโฆ. Not worth it
Iโve had this for almost 2 years (March 2024), and at first it was a great thing to have, so that I could grow plants indoors. Iโve loved the led lights and the water pump was noticeable but not excessively loud (I had this in my bedroom and you can hear a hum coming from it, but it wasnโt too loud where I couldnโt sleep when the pump was running). I had this plugged up and running almost daily just for the led lights alone for my potted plants. But either in November or December last year (2025) the buttons started going out where I could press the power button and it was still on so I manually plugged and unplugged it so that the lights were off throughout the night. But as of now, I believe that this isnโt worth the money. Itโs completely broken and I believe the motherboard on it is fried now where the lights or pump ainโt working. This didnโt even last 2 years and Iโve paid originally $45+ for this. I do plan on getting another hydroponics system but I plan on staying away from this brand/seller. Not worth wasting money on something that wonโt last even 2 years.

Would be 5 stars butโฆ.
I love these!! I have purchased 2 so far. The reason for the 4 stars is because both of my units lights will sometimes turn off randomly which is a problem if I ever go out of town. The pumps are still good so far as I trim back my roots to prevent them getting tangled and clogging and breaking the pump. Iโm guessing the pump fail on other reviews may be due to user error but if mine fails I will come back and edit this review. For the price I love the unit. I love that it has the nice caps to cover unused holes too. My first unit was a different brand and doesnโt have caps so itโs really not good. I also like that there is a good spacing between the hole as opposed to other brands. I love the ability to tilt up if needed and the height is good for me so far. Everything is growing great except my 3 attempts at cilantro, lemon grass and something else but thatโs the seeds not the system. Also idk where people are complaining about it not coming with seeds! Nowhere does it say it comes with seeds plus wouldnโt people normally want to pick what they want to grow anyways? I thought these complaints were absurd. If the buyer had any tips on how to keep the lights from randomly turning off in the middle of a cycle that would be great. My other brand stays on for 10hrs and off for I think 7hrs and Iโve never had to touch it but this one is inconsistent so a fix for that and this unit is a 5 star all the way! Amended review. I have changed back to 5 stars as I have resolved the light issue Iโm pretty sure. Iโm posting since there have been a lot of complaints about this and they may all be user error. When u want to set the lights you not only have to plug them in but I need to turn off the lights and then turn them back on. This resets the automatic timers. These are wonderful and I highly recommend to everyone! I have already gotten many of my clients to purchase and everyone is very pleased with them as well.

Not perfect but customer service is A++++
Ok, I have a lot to say about these. Starting with the bad: They are not the best designed units as you can find out-they quickly overcrowd with roots for the number of pods, the pod location to pump location lends to clogging, the plug inlet for the pump is on the top of the unit which makes it easy to get water in it when cleaning, the pump necessitates fairly frequent cleaning especially if you live in a place with hard water, like I do, and you will need to unscrew the tiny pump and screws with a tiny Philips head each time (for me, every two weeks to a month, depending). I have six of these so that is a little tedious and would be better with a slightly bigger pump and more easily removable cover. Also, if you grow items such as cucumbers, these will be difficult to not damage when you need to clean the unit, especially if other plants on the unit get bugs like aphids and need to be rinsed. The new units run better but are more complicated to program. HOWEVER, all this being said-the unit is great for providing light and beauty in your house. The lights are programmable and your plants will grow VERY quickly (with good seeds, Iโve had seedlings the next day ). If you want to grow spices like cilantro or greens like lettuce this is a salad-makerโs dream. Thicker greens can quickly outgrow the pods , but I think this does better if you cycle your units and have starts at different stages , otherwise you can end up overwhelmed with lettuce or whatever youโre growing all at once. The unit has everything you need to get started and is very rewarding to use in that if you follow the instructions you should be successful in have a good harvest. I think it does better with crops you would normally frequently re-plant, as once a plant gets woody, it doesnโt seem to have enough space in the pod. I frequently move these plants to dirt or outside if the weather is good , or compost them. I had gotten a horrible aphid infestation when I moved my outdoor plants in and I have been really sold on being able to easily remove the tops on these and thoroughly wash my plants and treat them. MUCH easier than if they had been in dirt. When I have had any issues, they have quick either replaced entire units or pumps and they have been super kind and wonderful to work with. In my opinion itโs a great unit to germinate and make starts, and then it seems to comfortably support 2-3 adult plants without being constantly drained of water. For a family of two, we really enjoy having fresh salads and greens and Iโve been really happy using mine for over a year (I have four of the black model and two white ). Hope this helps!

Enjoying it!
I have lots of herb seeds sprouting. They popped up almost overnight. The booklet doesnโt really tell you what all of the parts that come in the little bags are for so you kind of have to guess. I must be doing it right, though because the seeds are growing! The pump doesnโt work so I just got a small external pump with an air stone to use instead. I got the machine on sale so it wasnโt worth returning it. Read the reviews and learn from them. Like, you canโt reset the light so make sure that when you turn it on for the first time you do it when you are going to always want it to come on. The light is very bright! If you donโt want it on all night, prepare ahead!!! Overall, itโs nice and worth the pittance that I paid for it. This is an older model. Maybe the newer ones donโt have some of the quirks this one has. UPDATE: I played around with it a bit and the pump is working just fine now! Itโs very quiet and my plants are thriving. The seller offered a full refund, but I turned it down because itโs working great now. I appreciate the sellers offer to make things right, but it wasnโt necessary. Updated from 3 stars to 5 stars!

Grow light will not stay on
Recieved item May 29th, started using about a week latter, grow lights started not to stay on July 12th. Item worked fine , but now grow lights will not stay on. I have to unplug for a minute then press on and it will only stay on for a minute or two, then go back off. Sad part my plants were looking great and fruit started and now will have to be put outside with probability of plant dying. Update contacted URUQ and they offered to replace or refund. I had a 12 pod system but uruq was out of them and offered an 8 pod one to replace or a refund. I opted for 8 pod to try to save some of my plants and they did send me an 8 pod hydroponic system with fast service and so far so good placed 8 of my plants in it, but its been only a few days. Tried transplanting the rest to pots, dont know if they will make it, but got fingers crossed. Originally gave 1 star, because it didn't work over a month, but changed to 3 since they did replace. Hope this one continues to work.

Great for herbs and greens! Prompt customer service.
These come with everything you'll need to grow your first batch of herbs, lettuce, or whatever you are growing. Replacement pods and nutrients are also reasonably priced! Everything is rather straightforward on these units. The model I bought didn't come with a remote, and I do wish I had splurged on that function because I ended up placing the units rather high up, so a remote would actually be useful. Oh well! The water pumps work; it doesn't circulate constantly, and that's a good thing, because that would unnecessary. Everything is rather automated. I think it might be, by default, on a 12 hour on, 12 hour off light cycle, assuming you don't manually turn it on and off. There is a little window so you can check the water level. I usually top mine off every other day with a quart or so of water. The large 6.5 liter capacity is nice because you could probably go a week or so, once the plants are established, without worrying about adding water. All in all, I grew a lot of lettuce in just one of these units, and I'm growing basil, dill, cilantro, and thyme in the other one. I bought two of these. One started having problems after a month. I think, maybe, the power adapter failed. I had a few similar adapters around the house, but only one "fit." However, it didn't fully power the unit, because the lights would flicker. So, I emailed the company, and they responded within 2 days, and offered to replace the faulty unit. I received the new unit within a few days, and everything works! Thank you, Uruq, for standing behind your product.

Do not buy
Do not buy this, pump stopped working after 3 months, without the pump it will not work well. Complete waste of money and time

Looks good
Looks great on a counter or table comes with everything you need, great for starting plants quick before putting in pots or soil or outside. I added a small air stone and pump for better root oxygen absorption. Easy cleaning light detaches

Hydroponic review
Finally started to use this, currently on week three and everything has begun to sprout! Works as described, low motor noise (can barely tell when it's on), different growing modes (lights are bright!) And formula provided. The A and B crystals did not fully dissolve as indicated. Even after more than 24 hours of the crystal being in water, so I am not sure if the full effects of the solutions are being absorbed. I am also not sure at what rate the water will evaporate. It continues to be filled to the max even after 3 weeks of use. (Not complaining, as it means less refilling, but curious to know if this is normal or not). Overall very happy with purchase, good value for your money and looking forward to seeing everything grow!
