This was purchased in powdered form as my mother could no longer swallow capsules or tablets. I was very happy that it worked for the intended purpose NAC is used for. It does have a tarty taste so I just put it in apple or grape juice and give to her. It's not a taste everyone may like but it's the effect we were looking for to clear some stubborn issues up and it worked like a charm. Thanks Nutricost!! Verified purchaser Jan

Excellent product.

This was recommended by a doctor for me to use in a nebulizer. I'm getting excellent results. I've never heard of it before and don't know what else it is used for. But it clears my sinuses.

So looking at the other reviews, I feel I need to lead with the most important thing. NAC has an incredibly harsh taste that is very hard to cover up. If you're sensitive to sour/bitter, I'd recommend putting this in capsules. I'd say the flavor is akin to like a warhead candy, but with some bitter notes and it doesn't subside until you swallow it. It doesn't bother me though for the amount I save buying in bulk. That being said, I have found some things that help; for me I dump the scoop onto the back of my tongue and then drink immediately; I found coke zero actually seemed to cover the taste a bit. Coffee on the other hand was an incredibly bad choice and somehow seemed to make the flavor stronger. I haven't tried mixing it in anything because I can't imagine they're may things out there that could cover up a flavor like this. As for the effectiveness, like with any supplements, look for a study confirming it can do what you want it to do, as well as the dose used in the study. I don't want to get into specific medical conditions, but that's what I did to figure out what dosage to take (was more than this product recommended) and it seems to be helping.
