LOVE it! The sound is beautiful and not tinny like some of the videos. I picked up the mallets and began making resonant sounds right way! My body and mind responded well. I like the carry case but wish there was an outside pocket with zipper for the mallets, book and picks. The song book contains several pages of simple well known songs like Auld Lang Syne. (Meh) It would be better if the song book had more than one meditative sequence. The size is very convenient to play. The color of the metal is a tad darker than photo which I like so numbers are easy to see. The twine/rope on sides is good quality, though it may be a challenge NOT to hang cool things off it. lol.

I just received it today and I love, love, love this wonderful instrument! The musical tones are very calming and relaxing; to be honest I didn't want to stop playing it. The drum comes with a great music book, two drumsticks with rubber ends, and a carrying case (somewhat flimsy but it does the trick of protecting the drum). I would totally buy this again for either a family member or a friend. Also. great to combine the steel drum with your meditation practice. In addition. the drum is very well made with a beautiful yellow/gold color.

so when I first got it I played it for an hour. It's so intuitive and you can learn to get different sounds out of it like the stick slap or the hand mute. the finger things were useless they need to be heavier somehow but the mallets were ok, but one of the round ends flew off CRIEKE glue them ends down when you first get them. thats the only weak link. the carry case with strap is fantastic. I cant imagine being able to do much with smaller ones. I did find the tuning on the lowest note to be not very useful its not really low enough so if theres anything they can do to cut it larger I would recommend a retune. Overall a really fun instrument to add to my collection and very zen relaxing to play. I may get a teeny one to add some octave work combined tones. coating is very solid and I do agree that this one has a higher end coating. maybe buy new mallots but glue them balls on or you'll be digging under the couch like muh! I dont give out five star reviews lightly but this is a tremendous value for the money.

True to the key of D, but there are definitely tone and timbre variations based on where the mallet strikes. The worst part was the very itchy, shedding, rope tied around it. I am not sure what material was used, but the rope cover was not functional for an instrument . Thankfully, it was removable with some maneuvering,.else that would have been a deal breaker and sent back. It's not the best instrument like this I've used, but it's also not anywhere near the worst. It is functional and does what it should. It appears durable so far, and the color is lovely.There is a functional case to hold the instrument and extra stickers with numbers to identify tones.Personally, as a professional musician, I prefer the stickers to be notes, but I did leave the numbers on for my husband to play. If you're not a musician, playing by number, such as playing the odd numbers or even numbers together, will sound lovely and is an easy way to make good sounds without knowing what you are doing .

This Tongue Drum has a nice sound. I did a bit of research to learn the difference in instruments of this type. The best prices are in the class of drums factory made. If you want a unit that is hand-made, it will cost a bit more. Since this is my first venture into using this instrument type, I chose a factory made drum. I checked the one I received for tuning and found all notes to be as expected. This unit comes with a book containing several songs to be learned and played. The one I received is gold and it looks very nice. Now on to learning my first song. I’ll start with ‘Happy Birthday’ as that is a fairly short song and one we all know.
