Etymotic ER3-XR Extended Response In Ear Isolating Earphones with Detachable Cable

Loved the sound deadening and comfort of the eartips. The sound is excellent. I definitely recommend them

I have used Etymotic headphones on and off for 10 years. I sometimes try another brand if I’ve lost them, just for a change. But I keep coming back to Etymotic. They block out more of the external noise than any other headphone I’ve used, they’re comfortable for long periods of time and the sound reproduction is superb. Previous models I’ve owned might be described as a little base light (and I’m not someone who likes super-predominant base), but these are absolutely perfect. My only criticism is that I would have like iPhone controls on the cable.

Muffles babys cry better than bose, its such a nice feeling to sit next to babies that scream these days because i cant hear it, at all. 200 well spent.

They are a lot more open and airy that one would think considering you have to stick them quite deep inside the ear canal, the sound is excellent with amazing high-definition and details, for some they might lack bass but if you have a good phone with a proper active amp you can transform them into a real audiophile in ears with enough umph to satisfy bass heads , but they are primarily excellent premium audiophile well balance and very flat earphones .

I love Etymotics - discreet, powerful and great sound. XR is a huge improvement even more so ! Instructions say, "do not twist or rotate" the ends when you are trying to detach/re-attach the wire - although I never messed around with the cable, I ended up with one side not working, so I had to send them back. The problem is that you need to twist and rotate them to get them to sit properly (deep) inside the ear drum. Of course, it's a lot easier when you give them a quick suck with moist lips but you can't do that with a mouthful of chicken pie !

I am now somewhat addicted to etymotic earphones. I started with the cheapest in their range at about £59 then I bought a used pair of their next in the range for £79 and now I have bought these all in the space of two months! They are addictive there was nothing wrong with the first pair I bought they were truly stunning as well but these are in a different League

Incredible sound and build quality!

Nicer sounding than the original Etymotic ER4p's I had before, but a real shame they've skimped on the basics on this newer model - the long carbon fibre reinforced cable of old has been substituted for a short and rather crappy thin silicon rubber cable, and the rounded high density foam ear pads supplied with the original ER4p's is no longer supplied with these units, so you need to buy them separately, which is a real let down at this price :(
