Charles (Evan Peters), a teenager with physical challenges, lives with his dad in a dusty desert town. He's been beaten down so much in life, it's hard for him to feel much hope. When he meets a troubled runaway, Vickie (Juno Temple), he's intrigued, especially when he senses the vulnerability behind her tough exterior. Vickie's psychotic and abusive pimp, Skid (Kevin Alejandro), decides he doesn't like their relationship and constantly threatens them. To get away, Charles and Vickie travel to the California coast to snap photos of lighthouses. As the beautiful pictures develop, so do their feelings for each other, which sends Skid over the brink. It's a really sweet story that's told in an understated way. The plot is simple but it has a lot of emotional impact that's conveyed mostly through body language and in the pauses between lines. That kind of subtlety is hard to pull off; the leads deserve a lot of credit. I honestly think this film captured the tenderness and the uncertainty and the yearning of a coming of age more gracefully than some more mainstream and well-received ones. Review: Great acting. - Storyline is very predictable, we’ve seen it a million times, but nonetheless, it was a pleasure to see Temple and Peters —when they were lesser known actors— give such fresh, natural performances. You’ll see some veterans here too — fantastic as well.

Great acting.

What's not to like
I love Evan Peters to start out, but the plot on this movie was interesting. I enjoyed the drama that fallows Charles. Gave it a 4 star because I think the ending was not so good.

Fun to casually watch
I really enjoyed the base plot of the story, but there is a lack of character development for all characters. The themes are also unclear. That being said, I think the filmmakers had a really great idea and a good cast. If they could just develop the backstories of the characters/clearly show their themes this could be a great movie.

I thought this was going to be a "meh" type of movie judging the previews. I wasn't going to watch it but being a fan of Evan Peters work I watched it and it was pretty good. storyline stayed and keeps your attention throughout the movie. Little suspenseful and great acting.

the DVD box arrived, unfortunately the disc detached from its box, during its entire journey, wandered inside and caused scratches, I hope the film will work ...
