Great Scooter for Daily Use! I’ve been using the GOTRAX A5 for about a week now and I’m very happy with it. Assembly was simple and only took a few minutes. The scooter feels solid and well-built, and the seat is surprisingly comfortable for longer rides. I especially like the rear basket, which is very convenient for carrying groceries, small packages, or my work essentials. The ride is smooth thanks to the pneumatic tires and rear suspension, and the brakes feel responsive and safe. I’ve been really happy with this scooter so far. I’m a bigger guy weight wise, so I was a little unsure how well it would handle me, but it worked amazingly. It feels solid when riding and does not feel weak or shaky under me. The frame feels sturdy, the deck has a decent amount of room, and the seat is actually pretty comfortable for longer rides around the neighborhood or quick trips nearby. The basket on the back is one of my favorite parts. It is really useful for carrying small stuff like a backpack, groceries, tools, or whatever else you do not want to hold while riding. The seat and basket setup make it feel more practical than a regular standing scooter. It is nice being able to sit down and ride instead of standing the whole time. The power has been better than I expected. It takes off smoothly and has enough pull to get moving without feeling like it is struggling. I would not expect it to act like a motorcycle or anything, but for a scooter like this it has been plenty strong for me. The tires feel stable and the ride is pretty comfortable, even on less perfect pavement. One thing that really surprised me is the battery. I stored it over winter in a small shed and the battery still held up really well. I expected it to be drained or have issues after sitting for a while, but it was still good when I went back to use it. That gave me a lot more confidence in it because batteries can be hit or miss with stuff like this. Setup was not too bad, but like most scooters, you do want to check everything over before riding. Make sure the brakes, handlebar, seat, and bolts are all adjusted and tightened. It is also a little bulky, so it is not something I would want to carry around much. The basket and seat make it more useful, but they also make it take up more space. Overall, this has been a great scooter for me. It feels strong, rides well, and has handled my weight better than I expected. The battery holding up over winter was a big plus too. For someone wanting a seated scooter with some storage and a solid ride, I think this one is a really good pick.

I live in a retirement village in Pennsylvania, USA. The place is kind of spread out and I was using my car for trips less then a mile to go to different activities. About 6 months ago, our village maintenance department purchased 3 Gotrax Flex Ultras, for maintenance personnel to get around. They claim they like them and have not had any problems. So, a couple of weeks ago, I purchased a Gotrax Flex Ultra to get around and save my car from riding short distances. It arrived in a few days. Assembly was easy. You take it out of the box (yes, it’s heavy), snap the handlebars in place and slide the saddle in place. Everything good so far. When I tried to use the scooter, it would not move, but came up with an E6 error on the display. Next I wrote up the issue on the Gotrax web site. There is an area to describe the problem, based on where you bought it. I had purchased mine through Amazon. The following day I received an email from a person named “Honey” in the Gotrax support group. Honey asked me to send her a video, documenting the issue, as well as a copy of the invoice, which I did (see attached video). Gmail does not allow file attachments larger then 25MB, and the video was larger. I copied the video into my Google Drive, which is part of my email account and sent the link to Honey. Following day I received an email from Honey that the problem is most likely caused by a faulty Controller and she would send me a new one (free of charge). I asked her if she had a video or manual on how to replace the Controller and she sent me a video link the following day, showing it was under the floor board. The new Controller was sent from Texas and arrived in a few days. Immediately I went to work to replace it. Turned the scooter upside down on a saw-horse and started to remove the coves on the bottom, First I had to remove 4 allen screws with a metric allen wrench (also called a ‘setscrew key’) to remove the metal skid plate. Next I removed a number of Philips screws to remove the plastic battery cover. The cavity contained the battery and the aluminum color Controller (see attached pictures). The Controller is held in place by two 3mm metric allen screws. Once loose, I pulled out the controller and swapped wire plugs with the new Controller one by one. Then I reassembled everything in reverse order. The whole thing took less the 2 hours. Set the scooter upright and it works perfectly. In 1st gear it has a top speed of 15.2 mph and 2nd gear it will do 20mph. That is good enough for me. While taking it apart, I had a good look at the scooter construction. It is well built. Also it has a number of safety features, which I assume are built into the Controller. After testing, I did have to make a couple of adjustments. 1. The rear break had to be adjusted tighter. The seat clamp had to be made a little tighter, so the seat shaft would not slide down. That’s it! I am perfectly happy with my purchase. Other then repairing it myself, I could have returned the scooter. Amazon allows a 30 day return for Prime Members and if you bought it from Gotrax direct, they give you 14 days to return. I did not do so, because I did not look forwards to getting that scooter back in the box with all the packing material. Plus, I did not know if the shipper would pick it up from my residence.

This is a solid affordable choice for anyone considering a short trip commuter scooter. It takes bumps and cracks well and it’s easy to carry coming from a woman who barely weighs 120 pounds herself. Just be wary of when its battery is very low it will begin to slow down immensely and won’t go full throttle, possibly doing that to prevent sudden stopping for safety. The lights have a far range and I’m able to travel in darker areas with ease of mind being able to see. Additionally, it cannot fully turn right.

Update: Gotrax never sent me a replacement tire tube, despite telling me they did. After giving me the runaround for several weeks, they told me to purchase tire tubes size (and I am quoting them directly from the email) " 14"x2.5" ". They said they woud reimburse. Fine. I trusted that the information they gave me was accurate, however the tire tubes I got arrived today. They are not the right size. The size listed in this ad for the ASTRO is " 14"x2.125" "; the size they gave me is for a different model. I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I haven't been able to use my scooter since July 14th. It is now September 9th. I will have to re-order the right size and again ask them to reimburse me for the cost. Their customer service team is in China so it's not as if I can get this resolved in real time. ------------ Update: my rear tire went flat randomly and i could not pump it up. A month ago GoTrax customer support say they would send me 2 new replacement tires since they are a special kind. I have yet to receive the tires. They cannot give me a tracking number. For several days they keep telling me they’ll check the warehouse. I have mobility issues and can’t drive so this is my backup. I’ve been depressed and not having transportation is adding to all of my other problems making me $uicidal. I just want to replace my tire. They won’t give me a tracking number and have not just re-sent tires to me. I’m extremely angry Update: after charging the scooter all night, the battery only had 3 bars. Right now I don’t feel safe traveling longer than 5 miles unless I’ll be able to charge the battery at my destination. I contacted customer support because it seems to me that the battery is faulty and I would rather have a replacement then to be stranded somewhere in winter with a ~65 lb scooter that doesn’t work. I will update once this is resolved through customer service. I found this scooter while looking for an affordable electric scooter that was equipped with a basket. The package was delivered to the wrong apartment, and considering the box weighs quite a bit, it was a workout to pull it up a set of stairs and over to my apartment. Once I got it inside and opened the box, setup was fairly easy. The handlebars come disconnected but are easy to connect. The only things left to do were add the seat, basket, and then plug in the battery. I modified the scooter with a larger basket, rear-view mirror, and phone holder. I also got a Master Lock brand U-lock to use while out and about. The scooter comes with front and rear lights, and a little bell. The bell was in the way so I moved it to allow room for the mirror. The shocks can be adjusted depending on how much cushion you want. I didn’t adjust mine but I may loosen them a bit just to have a smoother ride. On my first ride I noticed that it accelerates nicely and fairly smoothly. The mechanism to go forward took a bit to getting used to, only because the scooters I rode previously were a bit different. I almost always ride at the max speed, and let off when going down hills. Higher speeds are possible while going down hill. On inclines the scooter slows a little bit, and even more if the incline is more than a 20 degree angle. Nonetheless, this was not an issue for me as I was not needing to go up steep inclines. I also weigh around 108 lbs, so I imagine someone weighing closer to the max limit of the scooter would have trouble. There is not a lot of “horse power” driving the motor so for people who want more speed and more power, I would recommend the 500W model rather than the 350W one that I bought. Another small thing I noticed is that - just after one ride, the grip tape is coming off in one of the corners. It’s not a huge deal, but as someone who used to skateboard - gripping her own boards - it’s not difficult to make sure the grip tape stays on properly. The grip tape itself is a little bit thin, so I might actually replace the grip tape myself. On my second right I noticed that on the way back from a ~3 mile round trip, the battery indication screen kept going from 3 bars to 2, interchanging between the two almost randomly. I charged the battery full overnight, and that issue did not happen the first day I rode it, and it had only charged for ~4 hours prior to that. I’m not sure if there is something wrong with my scooter, but I plan on seeing what the bars do when the battery drains lower. Another thing I noticed is that the breaks don’t function as well when roads are wet, so it’s something to be mindful for. This is true for bicycles as well so I was expecting that. I rode the scooter on a dry day and a wet day and it did fine both times. For the price, it is decent. The price dropped around $60 literally the day after I bought it, which meant the price for the 500W had dropped to the price I paid for this scooter, so I was feeling kind of bitter about that. I would have preferred the 500W, but the price point and shipping time for this one just worked out better for me. In the future if I were to buy another one, or replace this one, I would get one with more power for sure.

I wasn’t expecting much at this price point, but this scooter has been a pleasant surprise. It feels solid, the ride is smooth, and the seat makes a huge difference compared to standing scooters. I mainly use it for quick trips around my neighborhood and to pick up groceries. The rear basket is more useful than I thought, and the folding handlebars make it easier to store in my garage. It’s not the fastest scooter on the market, but for local commuting it’s more than enough. The suspension handles cracks and bumps well, and the brakes feel safe and predictable. The only minor thing is that it’s a little heavier than I expected, so I wouldn’t want to carry it upstairs very often. Other than that, I’ve had zero issues. Absolutely the best, just need a better light, a bigger basket and it would be the best on the market period, don't know why there isn't mor of this design being promoted everywhere I ride this EVEERYDAY to and from work over 8km, rain or shine, day and night, and having used a few of their other standing scooters, this is by far the best one I've had. Good speed + acceleration, good weight, front and back lights, key start, the sealed breaks so I don't have to clean the all the time, good sized tires, and SHOCKS yes so, many very great shocks front, back, hell the seat has one too, not having to carry my lunch, groceries and things on my back Had a really nasty crash with a fallen tree branch at 40kph in the dark, and I can 100% say this scooter came out of in 99% better than I did, only a little scuff to the top of the handle screen meanwhile I'm in the hospital for 12+ hours, so well-built is an understatement Maintenance is a breeze, mostly just wiping off road grit and pumping up the tires once a month Alot of people seem to think they should be able to ride any scooter, not just this one up ANY hill like a car, but they can't and this one's no exception, though I've easily made it up hills beyond the standard 15 grade they all scooters suggest on this with very little slow down but you're not going racing up the really big ones that even cars can be heard chunking on to go up, so plan your path accordingly Battery and distance is great, I used to use nearly all of it in one trip on previous scooters, with this beast my battery meter doesn't even drop one bar in a full trip to and from work, which is great since I forget to plug it in often lol, I do wish the plug in for the batter wasn't on the bottom though, while not bad or anything it just isn't as convenient as an older guy like me would like (knees are creaky lol) 100% Would buy again, and again, love it

Purchased 2 of these for my wife + myself for putting around the campsite. They arrived within 2 days! Packaging was very good and the scooters are easy to assemble. They zip along pretty good, although you won't win any races with them! Top speed is about 15 mph but that suits us fine as we're retired and only wanted a fun way of getting around. We had electric bikes a few years ago but wanted something smaller + less expensive. I think these are a bargain at this price! Recommended!

I received my scooter yesterday, ON TIME and in PERFECT condition. Unpacking was easy and ASSEMBLY was simple and took only a few moments: lift and lock the stem, screw down the handlebars, insert the seat, adjust and lock, and screw down the basket. Tools were included and I'm quite sure 99% of buyers can do it all themselves. The scooter is LIGHTER than I expected and the clever weight distribution and high floorboard clearance makes it easy to handle. CHARGING is a bit slow ... but they don't claim otherwise. Build QUALITY is top notch - I am so IMPRESSED! Everything is sturdy and secure and there is no wiggle in the stem. Tires are nice enough and arrived inflated and ready to go. Fenders are nice and secure - no rattling or noise. Kickstand is thick and robust and holds it up nicely without worries. The basket is high quality, spacious and handy. The screen is functional and has everything you really need: speedometer, odometer, voltage, gear settings and battery bar. Took it out for a ride today and was super happy! The SUSPENSION systems are excellent! 2 in front, 2 in back, there are springs under the plushy, wide seat and a seat post with suspension as well - WOW! Feels like you are floating over even the worst road conditions! Fantastic. ACCELERATION is gradual and smooth. If you want something to do burnouts on, this is not it - but for me this is perfect. A smooth and silent ride. There is also a unique acceleration guard: If you stop at a red light (for example) the scooter automatically switches to 0 gear after a short wait, so you cannot accidentally 'take off'... you have to tap the brakes to put it in 'drive' again. I think this is a brilliant addition to PEV's which I have not seen before. (And I have owned a bunch of 'em) Way to go GoTrax! SPEED is good and as claimed. TAIL LIGHT/BRAKE LIGHT is large, bright and functional. HEADLIGHT angle is adjustable but the amount of light thrown is minimal and too focused. If there was one thing I would like to see improvement on it would be a better headlight. All in all my first impressions have been very positive. It's better than I expected and that's saying something because I have pretty high standards and expectations. :) I will update again after some more thorough testing~

UPDATE : now that the cold weather is here is Canada and I mean chilly brrrr , you will have to bring the scooter in from the cold in order to keep battery life . It is terrible in the snow BUT is it lol . If you use the lowest setting ( in the cold ) and go slow you will be fine but if you gun it be prepared to wipe out . The battery has lasted me around 4 work day commute but I do bring it in and remember this is extreme cold weather commute (-25 to -30) . If you have to carry it in I recommend you be able to as it is heavy 75lbs . I have no problem female -58 but I am physically capable . I still love this scooter and I highly recommend it . I’ve had this scooter for almost two months , let me just say it is FANTASTIC & FUN ! It is not crazy fast but it is fast enough . I use it for my daily commute to work and home now ( 6kms) and charge it at the end of my 5 day work week . The battery lasts way long in first “gear” and it does reach 15.5miles . Second gear well let’s just say speed wobble at 20 miles . I’ve taken it down to the last battery bar and this scooter did 10 kms which I will test it out longer one day and still had pep and 1 full bar still . The grandkids also love it and have a blast every time they come over (11&15) . Will update when the Canadian cold weather arrives as I do like to play in the snow 🤣🤣🤣
