As Kester Lanner's mother lay dying of cancer, her final words were for him to look up Dr. Ribero. This request leads him to discovering his long lost father and the agency he runs...an agency that works at capturing supernatural spirits. The story is about Kester getting to know his father and the other agency employees as they work at their ghost hunting. But it also is an opportunity for Kester to discover who he is and what he is capable of accomplishing. This story moved st a nice pace, with an opening that quickly captured the reader's attention. The characters were all quirky with their own set of human foibles. Kester himself was definitely the antithesis of a leading hero, unsure of himself, pudgy and several times showing cowardice. But I still liked the character, made all the more likable by these failings, compensated by his efforts to save face. This was a great first novel and I can't wait to see what comes next.

A true ghost story
Kester Lanner is recovering from the death of his mother when he sees a note from her asking him to visit Dr. Ribero. When he does, he finds out that the doctor is not only his father, but he runs an agency that investigates supernatural occurrences. Kester is not sure how he feels about these new developments, but he goes with Dr. Ribero and his crew of investigators as they capture a ghost. But the second ghost proves to be more elusive, and it hits Kester hard, and frightens him. Especially when the ghost tries to attach herself to him. Kester will have to come to terms with not only his new discovery about his parentage, but about his newfound abilities, ones that he's not sure he wants. This is a supernatural tale, but it is also a coming of age tale. Kester is in his twenties when his mother passes away, and he's still struggling with her death when he meets his father. When he discovers his mother's past it hits him and he has to deal with his feelings about discovering his father's identity, a plot line that has been explored in many different stories before. But the supernatural element of this story adds an interesting twist, and it made this tale a fast, and intriguing read. I have been searching for a true ghost series for some time, one that didn't go in for blood and gore, and I've found it.This is the author's first outing, and I found the plot to be tight, and the characters to be well-drawn. I am definitely eager for the next story in this series.

Couldn't read this at night
Oh my goodness! This was such a well written book. I enjoyed every moment. And it was actually quite terrifying too, I couldn't read this at night. But my mind would keep drifting back to this story.I really enjoyed getting to know Kester. He's such an interesting character who I identify with for his love of research. He was very well developed. The character of the lady in the green dress was also very well done and I loved the unravelling of the mystery. The other characters at the agency are also highly entertaining. Though at the start I would get some of the ladies' names mixed up because I was introduced to them all in one lump. Dr Ribero I'd very interesting and I still don't quite know what to make of him. But I guess that's about the same as Kester and since Kester's the narrator that's understandable. Oh and I really enjoyed all the times he said an idiom wrong. And Miss Wellbeloved corrected him. All those character relationships amongst the team are delightful. Even though Serena did get annoying at times.I loved the scene where Kester returns to his home and even though everything was physically unchanged. In his eyes everything was empty and bland now. That was a brilliant bit of writing.

Cute yarn
The story is a very light tale about chasing spirits. It engaged my attention, being well written in a straightforward, first-person narrative form. The characters are 2-dimensional with no depth of feeling and very little intelligence. The author interjects humour throughout, with varying degrees of success. While some of the spirits involved are meant to be scary, I never felt any twinge of concern. The concept behind the series is intriguing, and the author has talent, so I may continue on with the series when I want some light escapism.

Bocciato
Una banda di "cacciatori di fantasmi" per nulla preparata, una storia fatphobic (praticamente contro chi è un po' in carne), un protagonista che si vanta di aver studiato all'università ma compie delle azioni veramente stupide.Bocciato.

Brilliantly written and full of big characters. A riveting read!
It may have taken me almost two months to read the first book of the Dr. Ribero’s Agency of the Supernatural series, but I can tell you it’s certainly not because I couldn’t get into it, or didn’t like it. Life’s just been a little crazy of late and reading hasn’t been at the top of my list of priorities. But I have read, finished, and thoroughly enjoyed this amazing book.I was hooked from the very first page. I’m a big fan of the paranormal/supernatural genre, but this book stands out as one of the best. It’s brilliantly written and full of big characters that draw you into their quirky lives. Even Kester, who at first seems boring and rather drab, shines by the end of the book.Action, adventure, comedy and mystery permeate the pages of The Case of the Green Dressed Ghost, keeping you riveted from start to finish, and even though I’ve had to push my much needed reading time to one side on occasion, I was able to get straight back into the story, such is the brilliance of it all.I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series, The Case of the Deadly Doppelgänger.

A good start to hopefully a future series.
I quite enjoyed this book. Some reviews cite it as not scary enough, or even a true "ghost"story in the sense of the word, nonetheless it was a great introduction to what I hope will develope into a series. Great character development; it follows the tried and true formula of the underdog making good and does it well, especially since the company of fellow workers he falls in with aren't that much different than him in their own way. Perhaps now that the stage has been set the author will delve more into the ghostlier side of the challenges the group will face.
