Bosch Cool 4000 Portable Air Conditioner, For Rooms up to 35m²

Great purchase and very happy with this. Yes it’s, big and heavy but it does exactly what it should do.

Works very well. We have a large upstairs sitting room which has been unbearably hot, and we knew it is bigger than the specified room size. However this unit does effectively cool the area where we sit and the cool air falls over the gallery and cools the downstairs room as well. It runs very quietly and we are very pleased. It is, however very heavy, and was a struggle for two 80+ year olds to get upstairs.

Massive and heavy but does a very good job and is relatively quiet. This is quieter than a large fan but if you do need a completely silent room to sleep then you may have to be a little hot

I purchased this last year during Black Friday sales, as the normal price for these units is not cheap. Because it was bought in the autumn months, it wasn't warm enough to justify setting up, so I unboxed it and stored until this summer, where a recent heatwave called it into service. First issue is the exhaust hose they supply is only 1.5mtr long so unless you have a position directly next to a window, it'll not reach. Also with these devices, they create a negative pressure in the room, which can pull in warm air from outside the window, reducing the efficiency of the machine. I made a blanking plate for the window with a 3D printed coupler to make the installation a bit neater but I also bought a 2 MTR extension hose so I could route it properly. During operation, it cools the room effectively, although it's not exactly silent in operation. It wasn't an issue in our lounge other than having to turn up the TV a couple of clicks. In a bedroom, even in quiet mode, it might be a bit more noticeable. There are a pair of drain hoses that require draining down after the machine has been in use, although neither caused any issues during running for several hours. The hoses have plugged ends which can spill when removing so have container ready to catch the drips. Overall, I'm pleased with the performance of this AC unit but I am considering installing a permanent reversible air source heat pump to the property in the next year or two.

The people saying it doesn't work have not sealed the room properly that's doors and the window must be air tightish the window kit works on vertical lifting old style sash windows that you lift up NOT OUT then the kit fits perfectly. Within minutes it was pumping out 11.3 c air while the room was 31c no doubt it can put out colder air once the rooms air that's feeding it drops, within an hour then room was 26 but the walls being solid in my house store heat so if you stood near them you could still feel the radiating from them so the air con is battling against that at the moment. Obviously Bosch won't make a lump of junk as some have claimed. Night time mode is also quiet enough to sleep with. Very happy with this purchase.

Yeah, very good! The noise level is reasonable for the job it has to do - at the end of the day it's never going to be quiet, it's an air conditioner, but it has definitely saved us and saved our sleep over this heatwave. Set it up properly, with the seals, turn it on, forget it, be patient and let it do it's job and you'll have a lovely cool room.
