Is the hardware brass?

NO. the original hardware that came with TOTO is all plastic. If you want a brass hardware to install the seat, HOME DEPOT carries the same for a very inexpensive cost.

Question 2

Are Toto seats like this high-gloss (shows scratches easily) or more of a semi gloss / egg shell?  Factory pictures make it difficult to tell.

Where do I find out what model Toto I have ?

Hello, To determine your toilet model, look on the inside of your tank for a number stamped in black ink. It will begin with a CST for a one-piece toilet or ST for a two piece. If your toilet is two-piece, the ST is the tank model only. The rest of the model depends on the bowl. This is marked underneath the tank mount area and begins with a C. TOTO toilets will accept any standard seat. You'll just need to be sure that you match the shape (elongated vs. round). If you need additional assistance, please reach out to us directly. Does the seat and lid have too much play? Meaning the assembly is nice and tight but the lid and seat themselves have room to move from side to side.
