Not as good as previous versions
Covers fewer islands/countries than previous editions! Lots of glitzy photos, but very light on information. The quality of Lonely Planet books has fallen tremendously. My strong recommendation is to buy an earlier version.

The lonely planet never disappoints
As with other lonely planet books, this book had wonderful recommendations for things to do, and places to stay in Grenada. The only issue is that the section on Grenada was a bit small and it would’ve been great if there was a larger section or a book just for Grenada itself.

Great lodging recommendations
Best travel book on the Caribbean islands. Have followed lodging recommendations 3 times and have not been disappointed.

The new Lonely Planet format is garbage
I’ve been a loyal Lonely Planet customer since the West Africa guidebook saw me through a semester of adventure as a college student in Ghana. I have traveled across five continents in the two decades since and my first purchase every time I’m even contemplating a trip is the relevant Lonely Planet. The sheer disappointment I felt upon receiving this book is difficult to put into words. It’s almost like calling up an old trusted friend and discovering they’ve changed so much that they no longer recognizable. Gone is the helpful information about specific options for lodging, food, shopping, activities, and sights; instead, it’s all been replaced with glittering generalities straight out of the free travel brochure rack at the airport arrivals right by the door to the taxi rank. Nothing even remotely helpful for planning a trip, just unhelpful junk I could look up on Google both faster and for free. I hope and pray Lonely Planet ditches the new format and goes back to their old approach. This guide is sad, and a waste of money.

more impressionistic than useful
Lonely Planet continues to drift away from its once winning combination of frank, detailed guidance to lodging, food and sights. Up to 20 years ago it was my go-to reference for planning trips to places I'd never been to or hadn't been to for a long time. No more. They have in the guide to the Caribbean sacrificed reviews of lodging and restaurants to glossy descriptions and ubiquitous squishy personal sidebars that makes it read more like a hefty issue of Conde Nast Travel magazine instead of a real guidebook. One of the best old features was its detailed maps referenced to the restaurants and lodging it reviewed. No more. Rough Guide is now far superior and, as surprised as I am as a budget conscious traveler to recommend it, Fodor's is the best of the lot.

Pathetic
I don't know what happened to Lonely Planet but this guide is so watered down it's nearly useless. It's not like the older LP guides. Okay. So it's the Caribbean. People take boats to get from place to place. You'd think they'd at least indicate where the ferries are. Maps awful. Little specific info.

Nice one

Disappointing
This is a new-format edition that lacks the detail and usefulness of previous LP books. Very general in nature; info could easily be found via google search; not a real guide as such. Shop around.
