Excellent product
Fits well, easy to adjust and fasten, comfortable for the dog to wear. This is the second one we have had after our dog grew out of the first one! Wouldn't consider any other brand. This one is crash tested and enough sizes to ensure a good fit

Works but wish they would make a longer one for big dogs.
I have the largest of these on a 55Kg Irish wolfhound. Fits well and we have confidence it would work due to the way she lays length ways in the car (folding down rear seat on her side). Not perfect (she is obviously too heavy vs rating and its all around her shoulders and chest and doesn't cover her length) but the best we have found so far and very well made.

Very sturdy
I have only used this once. I think it will prove good and secure. I have used the additional strap with the carabiner otherwise I find it a bit of struggle to reach the seat belt and clip dog/harness to it. This is due to the seat belt recoil and the dog is still not quite sure what I’m doing and a wee bit resistant. Have a week away planned with a long journey plus lots of short journeys so I will up date if there are any issues.I think I’ve made a good choice.

Crash tested
My first preference for having the dog travel in the car with us was to have her in a crate in the boot. However, she absolutely hates it and is always travel sick which makes going anywhere with her a nightmare, but she will happily sit on the back seat. So I started looking at car harnesses and quickly found out that most of them are cheap and cheerful and basically just a nod to the law, but actually do nothing to restrain your dog in the event of an accident. Seeing as I usually have at least one of my children in the car with me, I need them to be safe from a flying dog, and I’d really rather the dog was unharmed too. After a lot of reading online I decided on the Kurgo as it’s one of the few crash tested dog harnesses available in the uk, and it doesn’t cost a fortune. It’s easy to fit, seems very well made and my dog is very happy wearing it. It is quite heavy thanks to the metal hardware which may be an issue with very small dogs, but my labrador puppy doesn’t seem to mind, even when we used it as a walking harness, and of course it’s the metal clips which give the harness it’s strength. A word of warning though - if it’s even slightly loose fitting, the dog can escape it so make sure it’s tight enough! She seems to have plenty of space to settle on the back seat when restrained, but not enough that she can try to jump in my toddler’s lap or try to get in the front of the car. Thankfully I’ve not needed to test the crash test claims but so far I’m happy.I bought the medium which fits my 13kg dog very well. I did have an issue with the seller sending the wrong size and the ensuing marketplace returns palaver... I hadn’t realised that the medium was not sent by Amazon unlike the other sizes. However, we have the correct size now so it’s all good. If it wasn’t for the fact that the metal on the harness will rust if wet, I would probably ditch our regular waking harness and use this full time, I like it that much!Edit October 2020.I’ve recently had to buy another Kurgo harness in large now my dog is 24kg. I had no hesitation in buying it again, and it has now completely replaced the regular walking harness. The metal clips didn’t rust although I expected them to, and the front lead attachment ring has helped a lot with the dog pulling. I now recommend this harness to everyone I know!

Not for every dog
I thought I’d wait a few months before reviewing this product as i wanted to give Kurgo the benefit of the doubt given that their products are such good quality.I have two lively German pointers who, although trained, do like to move around ie stand up/turn around/lie down again. The first time using only the karabiner>seatbelt, the karabiner slid down and limited the ability to stand up despite the fact the karabiner should slide in theory. One of my dogs also got slightly tangled up in the seatbelt through trying to turn around and adjust her position. I then tied the sling to the seatbelt in order to keep it above them and hopefully allow them to turn but the same thing happened again - tangled. What tends to happen is that they end up clamped, standing or sitting, against the back of the seat, and due to opposition reflex it’s difficult to relax the tension in the strap enough to release the karabiner, which in turn has caused a little fraying of the harness loop due to the metal biting when trying to release them (my fault).Could my dogs be better trained to settle? Absolutely. But can i expect them to stay in one position for at least an hour? No.There is nothing wrong with the design and quality of this product, but i dont believe it’s necessarily suitable for every dog. My stars are really just to hopefully draw people’s attention so if they know that they have a less chilled dog, it may be worth trying but be aware they may need to return it. Otherwise, as expected, really good quality product. And a really difficult product to get the balance right between comfort and safety.
