I'm thinking of replacing my birkenstocks with these for my trip to europe. are these good travel sandals? i have slight bunions and high-ish arches.

They are very comfortable for me. I have bunions also but my feet are rather flat. Not sure if that would work with high arches.

How is the arch support in these shoes? I usually can only wear Merrells or Chacos, and wonder how they compair.

It's excellent, but I can't say if the arch will hit you in the right place. I don't have either of the brands that you mentioned, but it is similar to a pair of ecco sandals that I have. I wore nothing but SAS for years because that was the only brand that didn't make my feet hurt for days - I have a long high arch. I've bought three pairs of the Cobb Hills this spring and really like them.

Not removable insole--- but insole very well made and a very comfortable shoe.
