Eve 20EAU9901 Button-Connected Home Remote with Apple HomeKit Technology, Black

Feels chunky and well made - and integrates beautifully with other HomeKit items. I'm using it to control some of our Philips Hue lights. The Elgato has unmistakeable air of quality. It may all be plastic, but it is sturdy and the click action is positive and satisfying. It was easy to set up (you have to download the Elgato Eve app to do so), and I assigned lighting scenes to the three actions. It seems to be able to control pretty much any HomeKit accessory - and comes with a comprehensive set of stickers in various colours to let you remind yourself what each one controls (assuming you buy more than one). It also has some small stick on rubber feet which help stop it sliding around. I'm very pleased with the device and will definitely be looking to buy more of them.

I purchased the Eve Button to control two sets of kitchen lights - 1 press for the first set, 2 presses for the second, and long press to turn them all off. I use Homekit and Ikea Tradfri lights and drivers in the kitchen. I have other Elgato Eve switches and motion monitors.The initial setup was easy - Eve products are good looking and easy to setup and use, without the need for a hub. This could be considered an advantage and is why I have other Eve items. The button is smaller than I expected (I probably didn't read the description throughly enough), but I was not worried about this and quickly grew attached to it. It looks nice and is easy to use.The first problem is that there is no way to attach it to a wall. The Ikea Tradfri remote control is a similar size but also has a detachable backplate which can be screwed or glued to the wall. The Tradfri device attaches to the backplate magnetically. It can be taken off and placed on a table, etc. easily. Not so nice looking as the Eve Button, but more convenient.The biggest problem with the Eve Button is its erratic response. Sometimes it turns the lights on or off at the first press, within a second. At other times there is a long delay before anything happens - often resulting in being pressed again and again to see if it will work. On one occasion I did this multiple pressing with nothing happening, so I gave up only for the lights to come on and go off very quickly multiple times in the sequence I had pressed. On other occasions the Button did not respond at all.It is possible that the problems I describe are to do with using Bluetooth to send the commands, therefore not needing a hub. My Elgato Eve switches also sometimes have a short delay when a command is sent. Unfortunately the Button is too erratic to be of any use. Perhaps one day Elgato will update it to improve the response time. I want to use it but cannot at the moment.I am therefore very disappointed with this Button. You need a reliable switch to tun on lights when entering a room, and it's a pity that this is not it. I have returned it to Amazon for a refund.

Bluetooth connectivity, simple switch that can be programmed a one click, two click and a long press. It was the cheapest button at time of writing but I suspect it would hold up to long term use. Wanted it to work as a normal light switch, press for on then press for off. Ends up that this lags a bit due to homekit programming/updating, can take up to 15 seconds. Haven’t tried any other buttons so I don’t know if it’s particular to this one (not sure if a WiFi connected button could be more reliabable). Straight 1click, 2click configuration is more reliable.

Works well. Usual quick setup. Linked it to some downstairs lights connected to Eve Energy. These have some rules that activate at certain times of day; a couple are also triggered by Eve Motion (indoors and outdoors). This Button thingy allows family and visitors to override the automations. Essential to avoid complaints that the whole house has been taken over by tech.

First button arrived with battery already fitted and as a result using power. Showing battery life down at 40%; Complained and got refunded the cost of a battery.

Although it states its easy to set up with HomeKit, its not. I have may devices that use HomeKit and this by far was the hardest to set up, had to try then re-set several times.Also it is hit and miss if it connects, most times I have to press the button, wait and do it again to connect.Also over priced in my opinion.

Update: Since my original review, I changed the battery and finally got it working. Giving it 3 stars now as it is still not the best and there are cheaper options out there.In the year I have had this button it has mostly remained in the box. I only managed to connect it once with HomeKit. When I tried it next time it wouldn’t work. Gave up after several tries. What a waste of money.

Hugely unreliable. I have other eve products which function pretty well but this is a bad one!

Fondamentale per attivare una scena con timeout nella domotica Apple e senza registrare account .Certo il costo non è poco però non capirò mai ci si lamenta sempre dei costi e della privacy ma poi si precipita su Alexa e Google home e aziende cinesi che ora possono gestire tutta la casa . Questi dispositivi della EVE possono essere gestiti solo via bluetooth e senza alcuna registrazione di account. Solo se si vuole gestirli da remoto allora c'è bisogno di Homepod o iPad o Apple TV .Per non parlare del fatto che tutta questa domotica Apple è gestibile da una sola app e anche da Apple Watch .

die erste Zeit hat das System auf den Taster verzögert reagiert. Schiebe das mal auf den "Lernprozess" von Siri. Anders kann ich es mir nicht vorstellen. Oder aber das BlueTooth Low Energie funkt pereodisch und nicht durchgängig. Werde mich diesbezüglich aber nochmal schlau machen und davon berichten. Ansonsten funktioniert der Taster prima. Jemand hat sogar mal geschrieben wie man 3 Teile ansteuern kann. Damit muss ich mich auch mal beschäftigen. Klingt gut ist mir aber noch nicht so genau klar. Mit der fehlenden Wandhalterungen stimme ich den anderen zu. Die wäre aber sehr sinnvoll.Von mir bekommt der Taster eine Kaufempfehlung

La télécommande fonctionne parfaitement. L’appli sur iOS de Eve Elgato est génial et permet d’en tirer le maximum.

Por fin llegó la actualización de firmware que dice solucionar el problema de activación involuntaria de la última escena activada por el botón Eve cuando cualquier app consultaba el estado del botón, porque el botón respondía con dicho evento. Así, si encendías unas luces con el botón y luego las apagabas con la voz o de otra forma, una app que consultara el estado del botón volvía a encender esas luces.--- reseña inicial ---He recalificado de 3 estrellas a 1 y cambiado el título inicial de ¿Habrá versión Thread? (dejo abajo mi impresión inicial.)No es que no recomiende este botón, sino que recomiendo mantenerse alejado de él salvo a usuarios muy expertos.Intentaré ser breve. El problema que tiene este botón es que guarda su última acción (Programmable switch event de HMCharacteristicValueInputEvent) y entonces la propia app de Eve vuelve a ejecutar esa acción cada vez que consulta el estado del accesorio, cosa que hace en segundo plano e incluso con el móvil bloqueado. Así, por ejemplo, si la última vez que se usó el botón fue para encender una luz y después esa luz fue apagada con un Hue Dimmer Switch, o con el móvil, o con la voz o con una escena automática, entonces la luz volverá a encenderse cuando menos te lo esperes. Para confirmarlo, basta con abrir la app de Eve y consultar la habitación correspondiente después de haber hecho lo anterior (encender con el botón y apagar de otra forma). Da igual si la acción fue una pulsación normal, doble o larga; la que fuera se repetirá sin volver a tocar el botón.En Reddit hay un hilo al respecto y la persona que lo publicó contactó con el soporte de Eve. Lo digo porque quizás la respuesta de Eve sea la razón de que no existan botones para HomeKit que no sean los que se conectan mediante un “bridge” o un “hub”.Por otra parte, es posible que este comportamiento pueda ser usado como condición para ejecutar automatizaciones no permitidas como las que involucran a las cerraduras de las puertas, del mismo modo que algunos usan el enchufe Eve Energy (no como enchufe sino para poder automatizar cerraduras). Pero no creo que esta utilidad sea suficiente para otorgar una puntuación alta al botón, pues en ese caso de uso sería conveniente que tuviera algún led como piloto, para poder ver el estado del botón sin necesidad de mirar el móvil.- Reseña inicialEve afirmó que iría actualizando a Thread sus accesorios, y ya ha actualizado 6 de ellos, pero no este botón. Tampoco otro fabricante ha producido, que yo sepa, un botón Thread para HomeKit: Belkin prometió una actualización del firmware de su WeMo Scene Switch (parecido al Hue Dimmer Switch) para soportar Thread pero aún no lo ha hecho.El problema de Bluetooth LE, a pesar de ser reciente (he leído que de 2017 así que llegaría al consumidor en 2018) es que tiene muy poco alcance (aunque no menos que Zigbee o Thread), y por eso necesita un HomePod o un Apple TV muy cerca (mejor al lado :-) o a unos pocos metros sin obstáculos. Esto hace que los Eve que usan Bluetooth LE sean bastante melindrosos: este botón sirve para la mesilla de noche si en la mesilla de noche tenemos un HomePod mini, pero si el HomePod está enfrente, mejor que no nos interpongamos entre el botón y el altavoz. Según sea el caso, el botón funcionará bien o no servirá de mucho (especialmente para luces porque es deseable poco retardo). (Tengo varios accesorios Bluetooth LE de Eve y me va bien con ellos)El botón tiene un solo pulsador con 3 funciones (3 ambientes, escenas): pulsación corta, larga y doble. Y se puede doblar a 6 escenas si establecemos reglas (condiciones). Por ejemplo, para la pulsación corta: encender si está apagado y apagar si está encendido. Cosa que no haré porque prefiero todo lo más sencillo posible.Este botón me robó el sueño de la primera noche. Resulta que configuré la pulsación corta para que encendiera las luces del dormitorio, y cuando HomeKit (una Central o una app o vaya vd. a saber) escaneaba la red, al llegar al botón activaba la escena de la pulsación corta (encendía las luces del dormitorio). Así me enteré que este tipo de escaneo se produce con bastante frecuencia. A esas horas no acerté a corregir el problema, también porque ese día además del botón había instalado otras 5 cosas. Lo único que se me ocurrió fue configurar la pulsación corta para que apagara en lugar de encender y resetear el botón. No soy el único al que le ha pasado como pude ver en Reddit.No puedo recomendar el botón si no es para casos concretos, ni tampoco desaconsejarlo mientras no haya otro que use Thread.
