The riser appears to be aluminum, and the holding fork and base are likely steel (per magnet check), but I won't scratch it up to verify further. ~90% of the weight is in the base, making it very stable. The size is ideal for holding my (and almost any shaving brush and safety razor). It's attractive, yet unobtrusive in my bathroom. It can be underwhelming when I receive a product in a generic, plain box and label with the product SKU (manufacturer's inventory ID) and "MADE IN CHINA", but even as an engineer who wants more American manufacturing, I have to give credit where credit is due. Out of the box, this razor stand is exceptional for it's purpose. It's also designed to fit nicely into its approximately 5.5 x 4 x 0.25 inch (14 x 10.5 x 0.6 cm) box with effective, yet minimal protective sleeves between parts, making it both cost effective and environmentally-friendly to ship/transport, while not compromising appearance. I visited the pickpiff store before purchase, and it is clear that they stick to their core business (formed metal products with narrow range of surface treatments). That says to me they are more likely to understand their products and those products will more likely hold up well over time. By now, it should be clear I was not disappointed and hope I can remember to update this review in a year to say how it's holding up. I rarely write reviews, so I hope this is useful to others.

Solid metal and easy to setup and place it wherever needed.

It screws together my previous one didnt and fell apart so this is an improvement

Works perfect. Holds my brush and razor no problem, looks great, and feels stable. It's also very easy to put together.

I bought this to help keep clutter off sink. Looks nice and classy. Very sturdy and heavy enough not to tip over easy. Looks to be able to hold most razors and brushes.

Should not be used near water or to store a wet brush. The cheap paint quickly fails on the bottom and the metal of the base rusts, leaving stains on the sink that are difficult to remove.

Bought this a while back but because my last one rusted from a different company wanted to wait, checked it today and it's still in perfect condition and with it being longer than the last one my merkur long handle doesn't touch the table, a quick 30 second wipe down and it looked like the day I got it!
